4. It is one of Mr Gen's little sticklers
Blade side always goes down. If I'm in a hurry and leave one up, he will be right there to give me a little lecture on the dangers.

6. We call him the family 'safety enforcer'
He also keeps us safe from choking dangers by keeping hard candies out of reach. Mind you there are three adults living in my house.

8. ok. I'm a sharp side up person
I have had more knife blades ruined either by bending or having the tips broken off from putting the blade side down, that now I put all the blade sides up. I'm the one that empties the dishwasher usually, so I am very careful to pick up the flatware by the handles, not by the tips. My mother was also a blade side up person, FAIW :hi:

13. my mother is also a sharp side up
but, i hand wash all mine and lay them at an angle in the dish drainer until either they air dry or i towel dry them and put them in the drawer.

it just hurts my eyes to see the sharp side up...very scary to me, irrational i suppose but, there you have it:)

10. good knives don't go in the dishwasher, but otherwise I'm a blade UP person
if you know that is the way they are always loaded you are naturally careful. I do all the flatware that way - handles down, unless they are real pointy and might poke through the bottom of the basket.

11. Pointy side up, my dear wildhorses!
That way they drain better ......

And I never put my really sharp knives in the DW........

Those get washed very carefully by hand in very hot water, and rinsed the same!

And then I let them air dry, since that is the best way to do it...

More sanitary, doncha know?

:hi:

12. OHHH!!! This should be good.

Too bad I won't be able to stay up and laugh my ass off. I gotta go to bed soon. I know this one will cause a crazy ass flame war from the bowels of hell. Know why? Because it's one of those things in life that are just no big deal either way. That's why people will become overly passionate about it. At some point, someone will probably post in all caps. Oh, this is so  worthy. I hereby predict that someone will post a link to some knife manufacturer at some point to make their case.

Thanks, wildhorses for a much needed laugh.

25. I dunno...it was probably just me being a Nervous Nellie,
but those knives just looked so sharp pointing up like that. And the kids used to love to run through the kitchen in their stocking feet. When I was doing dishes. And...well...they looked so Sharp.

It's become habit. I'm still a Nervous Nellie, just about different things now.
