Something is seriously wrong with someone if they actually want to touch or handle a snake.

They're cool to me, but I'm terrified of even the tiniest spider.

I absolutely love snakes though and I miss my old python.

And spiders don't bother me, either. What freaks me out is Wasps and Hornets with their long dangly legs and stingers hanging down. When I see them I scream and run for my life. :scared:

9. Ahem.
Snakes are among the most beautiful and elegant animals there are. Many species make wonderful pets, are very calm and personable, and feel smooth and cool and pleasant to the touch.

But trust me, a wild snake doesn't want to encounter a big clumsy smelly ignorant human either. If you leave them alone, they will leave you alone. Sadly, the reverse isn't always true.

19. Green anaconda.
One of my favorite species, as it turns out. They can be a little snappish as babies, but they do calm down.

But this looks like a wild-caught snake, and the guy looks like he just pulled the poor creature out of its warm comfortable home in the mud. Wouldn't you be a little upset?

I can understand that the big constrictors aren't everyone's cup of tea, and they certainly aren't the ideal pet for everyone.

But here, look at these pictures and tell me those beauties are scary/ugly:

...dislike or fear spiders. I see this all the time, and it's quite odd. Maybe some people who love an animal with no legs, are creeped out by a creature with so many. :)

Myself, I like spiders too, but admittedly I like snakes more.

 I could NEVER do that...the rats were hard enough. Mice weren't so bad but they grew too big for mice & I finally ended up having to have my boyfriend do the deed. I had a pet rabbit for 6 yrs and when she died, I cried for 3 days straight. I don't have the heart anymore to kill anything, even a mouse. No more snakes for me.

31. I got one wrapped around my golf club once
When I was about 13, playing an unfamiliar course in Jacksonville on a soggy day.

I was in the right rough and took a practice swing. Next thing I know a slinky black snake about two feet long was wrapped around my iron. I dropped the club and never ran that fast in my life, back to the fairway.

I hit my shot from there and then walked back to carefully retrieve my iron.

Yeah, it was probably a harmless snake but I'm very content that's my one and only closeup story.

Good thing, because we have snakes around our house. Even found a baby rattler in the garage once.

34. Ho, hum, hum, oh well, "Something is seriously wrong with" me,
because one of my best birthdays as a kid was getting to pet a 14 foot long snake at the local pet store. She was huge and had a reputation for biting her owners, her vet, and everything else that moved. Guess what? She turned and flicked her silky wet tongue on my hand and....gasp....are you ready for it.........

that was it. She just flicked her tongue on my hand and did NOT bite me. She looked toward me and said hello. And I LOVED the way her scales felt. You know if you don't try to stroke them backwards, they feel smooth and slightly cool to the touch.

Snakes are wonderful creatures who have a place on this Earth and they have a purpose. Other than being excellent vermin hunters, they provide hours of entertainment for some of us who enjoy their fascinating beauty and their mysterious gorgeous eyes.

How can you not love this beautiful face?

and when you're camping and one (or several) decide to sleep in the bottom of the sleeping bag down by your feet.

It also is creepy when they slither across your face while someone is holding you down so you can't move.

40. snakes are among the coolest of creatures..
...as a kid i was never happier than running around in the countryside catching garter snakes and red-bellied snakes with my sister. once they realized that you were warm and they weren't being eating by a giant creature, they became quite docile.

i did run into a four-foot timber rattler in the wild once, but that was scarey, but still fascinating. i realized what it was when I was still eight or ten feet away....and backed off. it coiled up, reared its head back and the rattle started humming...but it did not strike..

51. Don't care for them
Before I worked in Israel I was neutral about snakes. But then working out in fields we had to be cautious of vipers. I once reached out to pick a tomato, when I saw a viper staring back at me. So I hauled my bucket another meter further on and resumed picking. Later, one of the Palestinians found it. They didn't hesitate to kill it. It didn't help that the farmer's wife was deathly afraid of snakes seeing them swarming everywhere, passing the hysteria to everyone else. She was actually seeing irrigation hose.

When I was biking Australia, a huge snake hissed at me from the grass. I gave it a wide berth.

But I have no desire to have any sort of contact with them. I'm cool with the fact they are out there somewhere, but I don't want to know exactly where. So I guess you could say I'm okay with the CONCEPT of snakes. I don't freak when I see them, I just want to leave them alone and hope they extend the same courtesy to me.
