How much gas does your car tank hold?
I was on fumes today, decided to give it $20 of gas and it cut off at around $15.00.

Handle clicked off. I kept going to $20.00.

I started the car and the gauge said almost a half a tank.

Later on, I drove it and it was reading almost full!

How can that be at $2.47 a gallon?

1. My owner's manual says....
It'll hold 16 gallons.......

I usually get 13 into it before it clicks off..........

Sometimes the gas guage won't read correctly until you've driven it a bit...

I have no idea why, but I've seen this in my car...

2. Maybe my gauge lost it's memory...
I haven't bought any gas in almost 3 weeks, maybe four!

Or it was frozen from all the arctic temps for the last month.

I think I have a ten gallon tank. I forget now.

14. its what I have, but
I hardly ever drive it much...every two weeks, I take it on a 20 so mile run, to the bank, and for running around...plus once a month, I take it on a 100 mile run, to go see my doctor.

4. I think Ruby's tank holds about 12 gallons. It usually costs me about
$30 to get a full tank if I am about dry, so that makes sense, with gas at about $2.50.

6. careful overfilling
especially newer vehicles - you really should stop the first time the pump kicks off unless you know it was foam or backwash - you can damage the fume recovery system.

My van takes 22 in the back 12+ in the front - talking $80 when it is real low. OUCH

8. I drive a very tiny
1993 Honda Civic Del Sol, just like the one in the pic.

The manual is in the car and I'm not going out there to see what size the tank is...lol.

I'm pretty sure it's around ten gallons though.

7. It used to hold 20.
But, since I got a hole in it somehow it can only hold about 12 before it starts leaking out.

10. Why don't you get a new tank?
That seems like a waste of gas and money.

What a bummer.

11. I'm waiting until the weather is nicer so I can change it myself.
I usually only get $10 at a time anyway, which comes to about 4 gallons, so I don't lose much. It's kind of a heap, so I don't want to spend too much money fixing it up.

16. if you know where the hole is you can fix it with a little sandpaper and a less than $5 pkg of epoxy
there is even a specific formula for gas tanks - check at the local auto parts place - I have done this on more than one occasion - it will last for several years befor you need to do it again.

15. My tank holds 26 gallons.
No, I don't drive an SUV, I drive a pickup truck. I like not having to borrow someone else's truck when I have to haul something. And the 4 wheel drive is nice in the winter time.

17. My 97 Honda Accord has a 14 gallon tank
Lately it's been costing around $28 to fill it up at Costco or BJ's when I have about an eighth of a tank left.

Fucking gas gouging!
