My little buddy "Moe" might lose his eye.

He took two cat claws to the eye sometime Sunday evening or Monday. I didn't notice it until I got home from work Monday night. His eye was filled with blood, I called in to work yesterday so I could take him to the vet. I didn't make up a story, I just said my dog is injured and I can't make it. He has two punctures to the left eyeball which are "ulcerated". I got some ointments for him and a pain killer. I am hoping he won't have to go to the next level of treatment.

1. Damn. That sucks. I hope he heals up OK.

But if he doesn't he might look sharp in one of these:

2. for moe -- a franciscan prayer --
Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures. You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air and animals on the land. You inspired St. Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters. We ask you to bless this pet. By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan. May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation. Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen.

3. Ouch, I'm sorry
My last dog had to have an eye removed when she was 12 or so because there was a tumor behind it and the eye went dead. I hadn't even realized she had slowly been going blind. Basically it made me realize how much dogs depend on their sense of smell. She walked into things a couple of times, but other than that, she adjusted to it pretty well.

5. That's really a pity
I hope the treatment is successful.

It's sad to see this, but it's great to see he has such a great buddy as yourself.

6. Wolfgang was nabbed in the eye by an Akita a couple of weeks ago
He's looking terrific now, fortunately.

They gave him an antibiotic pill as well as an ointment and a pain killer.

I hope Moe pulls through quickly; and that his eye can be saved!

8. I can't tell yet if its helping.
His eye looks opaque like he has cataracts. He is keeping it closed most of the time. I am supposed to call the vet if it isn't any better by Friday. I guess there isn't much you can do other than hope it heals. I know he has more respect for cats now.

10. My sister-in-laws German Shepherd lost his eye
He was kicked by one of her horses. The vet ended up sewing the eye shut. He recovered very quickly, and aside from a rather menacing look, it never seemed to bother him.

I hope that your dog will recover and avoid losing his eye. He's very cute.
