Ok it must be spring. Just got my first bee sting of the year. Left pinkie. Damp laundry. Shit, there is water in the bird bath, pool and three troughs at the corral no need to try to get it from barely damp blankets!

1. The ants just came out here - big black pinching ants - in the HOUSE

First thing in the AM, up the drains, black ants by the droves...I woke my husband up with all the noise I was making and he came downstairs and said "it sounds like a construction zone down here with all that banging!"

I was smacking ants as fast as I could with one hand, and shooting water and them down the drain with the sink hose in the other hand.

Yeah, I stopped for non poison ant traps on the way home.

This is an annual spring thing.....yuck

I keep seeing carpenter ants around - at least they don't stink or act stupid but I worry about the wood parts of the house...

4. No...they come up through the downspout drains, then migrate through

into the regular drain system...this is a pretty regular spring occurrence when the permafrost gets gooey and it starts raining and gets warm.

However regular it is, it always freaks me out when I come downstairs all blurry eyed heading for the coffee and see ants swarming all over my counter.

Last year, we put everything inside glass containers so they would not get infested. We have even (as much as we hate to) had the exterminator out. I hope this year when they find they cannot get into anything to eat, they move along.

3. I almost got pelted by duck shit today.

I knew they flew in the vee pattern all together in unison, but I didn't know they shit in unison too. Yep, it's spring all right.
