Anyone watching "Criminal Minds" or "CSI" tonight?
Edited on Wed Mar-14-07 08:52 PM by idgiehkt
I am really, really liking this show (Criminal Minds). I feel bad since it's about serial killers, but I guess it's just CSI x a few more bodies. I like the cast, although it is kind of hard for me to watch Dharma's husband being so serious. And that pale, thin guy seems more like he sould be a serial killer, but I think they made him quirky like that on purpose. Plus I really like Mandy Patinkin in this.

then it's onto CSI New York.

2. We like both of them!
It's becoming one of our favorite TV nights. I love Lt. Dan, btw, anything he's in...

5. I find CSI New York the most low key of the CSI shows
Which I didn't expect, it being in the city that never sleeps. And I really like Gary Sinise in it too...I honestly didn't know if he could carry it off because I'm used to seeing him in villian roles in movies, not as the good guy on tv. And Melanie Karakanesesed or however you spell her name really has a a lot of poise and class about her. :hi:

Criminal Minds is just a real treat. I liked "Without a Trace" too, I was so mad when they moved it from Thursday to Sunday.

3. I really like Criminal Minds
I can't help but think of the one guy as "Greg" forever. I couldn't discuss any of the recent episodes since I am overseas and AFN quit airing Criminal Minds to air something else for a while.

I'm a big fan of CSI, too, except I'm not big on CSI: Miami.

7. I'm not too crazy about CSI Miami
because Caruso is exhausting to watch, I think. He plays his role like a Christ figure, which is a little much. There is a show that comes on here on channel 19 called "Da Vinci's Inquest" that I like as well, although I know nothing about it or how long it's been on. It's kind of different. :hi:

6. oh I didn't know it was a re-run
They had bio-agents on "Alias" sometimes that would make people hemorrhage like that. Kind of brings back memories. :hi:

10. I couldn't get into the Criminal Minds show tonight
I just kind of go to lunch mentally when shows feature islamic terrorism plots, because it feels like propaganda to me even if it isn't...I guess since I was glued to the tv the whole time during and after 9/11 I feel it is somewhat 'skeevy' or something when shows use this as a plot. But normally when they do just plain serial killers it is good. They had one last week that was really good, the guy had served in Somalia and was having trouble with PTSD...his car broke down in a bad neighborhood and there was some construction going on and a lot of noise, and that made him have flashbacks of being in active combat...he ended up killing quite a few people, which was really sad. :(

I think they handle it well but I didn't know the FBI had a team that flew around the U.S. on a big private plane like that. Wonder how true that is.

24. me too
because as we all know from watching the real life crimes on tv, it's rarely that overblown, at least in countries that aren't at war. Sex and money, or drugs, are usually behind most murders.

I never miss it, repeat or not.

I love the whole cast, but am definitely :loveya: Shemar Moore. Majorly hot. :loveya:

11. yep, he's intense.
It was so sad when that cop got killed a few weeks ago (when they had that show about the black serial killer) and his character witnessed it. I totally was not expecting it. They were talking about how it is a myth that there are no black serial killers.

It's a great show. I always like to see new crime shows...but oddly, one that I can't stand to watch is Law and Order. I don't know why but those shows grate on my nerves so bad.

12. That was a great episode - killing the cop threw me too.
I was also blown away by the one where the vet heard a building demolition and started flashing back to Nam. I knew he wasn't going to hurt that kid, but also knew that he was about to get blown away because they couldn't take a chance. One for the times...:-(

I also love the reflective quotes one cast member recites on the plane while heading home.

15. yep
I still was hoping against hope that they would not kill him. I really wanted to believe that they would not. That episode was really touching...I don't know how realistic it is...can someone inhabit a flashback for days on end like that without knowing it isn't real? Well, I guess they can, because the asylums are full of people in that state. :(

19. That episode was heartbreaking. I nearly cried when they killed the vet
though I understood why they did. He was delusional because of PTSD, he had a gun, and they didn't know for certain if he would harm the kid or not. I think they really, really wanted to help him (the veteran).

18. Saw Criminal Minds 4 a minute and thought it was Bush Propaganda..
Never saw it before and we were channel surfing when we came upon this

middle easterner threatening a terrorist attack!! Maybe on other

weeks it's great show but tonight it seemed straight out of the Bush

FEAR playbook. The terrorists were going to attack a shopping mall.

I don't know for certain since I'm not a psychologist, but I dont think this type of entertainment

is good for the American psyche.

22. The striking thing about it though was that Gideon took the opposite

approach from Team Bush in dealing with the prisoner. He treated him like a human being. He totally slammed the CIA in that episode too. And the approach Gideon took actually worked and they were able to stop the attack.

on edit - Of all the episodes I've seen, tonight's was the only one I remember dealing with terrorists. They usually revolve around serial killers or kidnappers.

29. Interesting.. guess we didn't stay tuned long enough to see
that the situation was handled in a logical way.

We just saw "terrorists..attack on a mall.. FEAR mongering" and switched stations quickly.

Give it another shot. I was really disappointed, because so far it has been really, really good and non-political.

Edited on Thu Mar-15-07 11:36 AM by idgiehkt
:(

I'm starting to think we need a crime show forum. Every since they moved "Without a Trace" to Sundays I miss it because I'm working. So Criminal Minds has replaced that one, its my 2 hour tv night. I love "Without a Trace", when I was watching it, it was definitely the most liberal tv show I'd ever seen.

32. It was VERY positive about how they use real interrogation instead of torture
to get what they want.

Here are a couple lines from the thread.

"Criminal Minds" is in Gitmo and Agent Gideon just threw some bullies out of a torture cell and got the suspect to start TALKING by using psychology on him. And then he told the guy that no matter where he was he "swore to uphold the Constitution""

Gitmo detainee to Gideon.

"In two minutes you found out more about me than those thugs did in two months"

It was definitely anti-bush torture.
