I love my elderly Grandparents
My Grandfather took a nasty spill a month ago. Did a face plant in the alley and broke his neck and rib. Ever since, I have taken over the driving duties for my Grandparents. Driving Grandma to the hospital, driving her to her appointments as Kasier. Now that my Grandfather is home from the hospital, I take him to all his appointments too! They pay me driving them around my letting me use the car to run MY errands. And that sure is a nice break from the bus.

What I am getting at is this....it's pretty cool how the world will smile at you when you walk in with your Grandparents!

2. Oh, it's just been so nice to help them out
They are so appreciative it really gives me a good feeling. I take out their garbage and recyclables every day too and they really LOVE that!!

3. Good for you
:)

I've fallen deeply in love with my elderly parents. They're such great people, so fun to be around. I could almost move back in with them, except that that didn't work out so well the last time...

4. They sound wonderful, Roon
as do you. :pals:

How admirable of you that you care for and help them. It's not uncommon for elderly relatives to be forgotten. Friends who have worked in nursing homes have testimony to that. :-(

I wish I had a relationship with my grandparents - two died before I was born, one a month later, and the one I did meet a few times was an angry, bitter woman who made little attempt to talk to me.

6. You will cherish these days later
You know they love just seeing you and the fact that you're helping them probably means more than you'll ever know. You'll be so glad you did all of this when they're gone. Believe me.

7. Sounds like they've got a great grandson
They must be pretty cool too, since you love them.

Lost mine a long time ago. Still miss 'em. For me, they were the best.

8. Yep
I'm glad to hear that your grandfather recovered well from his fall. I miss my grandparents, all of them are deceased, and it's a weird feeling not to have them. The sold my grandmother's house and now it's like all the memories are gone because I can't go back there. They are very lucky to have a caring grandchild like you.

9. We can learn a lot from our elders
It's sad how our society tends to discard them rather than honor them. We need more people like you.

I never knew either of my grandfathers - they both died before I was born. My mom's mom died when I was young so I barely remember her.

But my dad's mom was a very cool lady. She was born in 1886 and her grandfather fought in the Civil War - she used to tell me stories about him. She grew up in NYC, was somewhat of a society girl, then married my grandfather and moved to Vermont. She ran her own business in the 20's, importing furniture and art items from China and the Far East. And in her 60's she began painting - she had some talent and I have a couple of her paintings.

Interesting and very strong woman. She died when I was 18 but I'll never forget her.
