Today's "Idiot Driver Award" goes to....(envelope please).....
IT'S A TIE between the driver of the SUV who, after stopping at a 4-way stop and getting 3/4 of the way down the block, BACKED UP, WIHTOUT LOOKING, to talk to the OTHER winner, the driver of the Sentra, who was half-way through a turn in the intersection. Said winners knew each other apparently. and thought it would be a fucking grand idea to STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND CATCH UP ON OLD NEWS, thus halting traffic in 4 directions!

CONGRATULATIONS, YOU FUCKING JERKS!!! :grr: :grr: :grr:

1. I think they may be in the front-running for the hall of fame award.
I have encountered my fair share of idiotic drivers, but that one is a whole new level of stupid. :wow:

2. I've got that beat....
In LA (but of course) today in rush hour traffic, some little twit in a mini cooper stopped her car IN THE MIDDLE OF FREAKING FAIRFAX DRIVE (major surface thoroughfare), crossways--perpendicular!!!--to two lanes of traffic, STOPS AND FUCKING GETS OUT, and goes to some business to drop off an envelope.

When I first saw it, I thought the car was in an accident. It was only after she came be-bopping back out to her car that I (and others around me in traffic) realized she'd just parked in the middle of the goddamn road. Just because.

3. Amateurs. The Idiot Drivers are old people in Sarasota FL
Every day, there's a ponds waiting to be backed into, living rooms to be entered at 65 mph, spouses to be dragged down the street while attached to the passenger door. It's endless.

Thank goodness there weren't that many cars in the rotary at the time.

13. There's an off ramp in our area which comes onto the main drag.
Right before the off ramp are traffic lights. Three, four times a week some moron runs the red light and gets creamed by another fool who enters the road from the highway at top speed. It never fails to amaze me.

There's a reason why dumb people don't live as long as smart people, SeattleGirl.

15. wonderful thing about a car is you are in your own world, and its a insulating shell
so you can do whatever you want without consequences. Most people, when driving, just don't seem to give a fuck about anything going on outside that little bubble.

I used to love driving. But its just so damn stressful

16. More so now than 20, 30 years ago
In a modern car, you're surrounded by air bags and there's a "crumple zone" in front of you. The cars are insulated to the point that you can barely hear what's outside, and there're so many bells and whistles on the steering column it's easy to lapse into a false sense of immunity because it seems the car will virtually drive itself.

It's your own little cocoon where you can do whatever you want.

17. I can't stand it when people do that
Usually it's two cars side by side at a stoplight, and the parties know each other and just keep chatting it up, despite the fact that the light has changed.
I needed to give out one of those awards the other day when this lady in a black SUV looked straight at me for several seconds and then pulled right out in front of me, and then stopped right before I slammed into her. I actually cursed at her, which is something I don't do much while driving, but I called her a bad name, lol.

actually FLIPPED ME OFF when I honked my horn at him and the other driver! Well, EXCUUUUUUUUUUSE ME!!! I'm sorry that I was interrupting your little in-the-middle-of-the-intersection catch-up session with your friend! :sarcasm:

Fuck them, they stopped illegally, it would be there fault anyways, you can always say, well they stopped in the middle of the intersection for NO FUCKING REASON and I couldn't react, or some other bullshit. Case closed. Any other drivers witnessing would back you up.

23. You could scare them, I one time had the same thing happen...
I was in my little '89 Celica, and these two guys decide to chat in the middle of the intersection one had a truck of sometype, I think a Ford, and the other a full sized van. They were just sitting there, at an angle to the road I was on, it was a four way stop, so I stopped, I then gunned my engine and whipped around both of them REALLY quick, I missed the truck by about 6 inches, if that. I loved having a car with that much control.

24. I once saw a man drive on the sidewalk.
Edited on Thu Mar-15-07 04:22 AM by Alexander
I was like 10, at the University of Hartford for a piano lesson, when I saw this.

He was elderly, harmed no one, and quickly got back on the campus road. In his defense, later on my folks had to drive on the sidewalk briefly to get out of the same school's parking lot, because some idiot parkers blocked the car in.

Ever had that happen, where people take up like 4 spaces and block traffic without thinking about it?
