Twice now I've been awakened in the morning by someone whispering, "MOM!"
But nobody is there when I open my eyes.

If it's a dream, it's a very weird one, because both times I've been awakened from a dream by the loud whisper.

Do you think my dog has learned to talk? My cats don't whisper, but he does.

1. There's no such thing as a talking dog. It's probably just a ghost.

3. But why haven't I heard it before?
Unless it's the ghost of one of my cats...

19. One of my best friend's dog speaks.... seriously!
Or at least she seems to be trying to... she modulates her voice and everything. :)

2. Are you planning on, or have the possibility of...
...getting pregnant? In some traditions, it's believed that the soul of one's child makes contact before conception. Kinda cool. :)

5. Wasn't planning on it...
At age 48, I must admit that I wouldn't be thrilled with the prospect...

7. I thought it was one of my kids...
trying to wake me up enough to make me stop snoring or something...

It doesn't scare me; but it intrigues me.

11. That would make the whisperer cry, I'm sure...
It's funny...I have to watch my mouth when it comes to fuck, shit, damn, and so forth; but I've never said "shut up" to my kids.

i don't have kids, but i would think would be the case with me too. I mean, i wouldn't say "fuck you, you little shits, go to hell" but the odd expletive wouldn't bother me. But shut up might...

12. I've had my name whispered in my ear, the same way,
and it always surprises me awake. It must be a dream but it's so real.

15. Hypnagogic Hallucinations...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogia

really very common

but kinda freaky too

ever have an incubus nightmare...I did- or maybe it's a succubus nightmare for a guy?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Succubus

was not a pleasant dream, it was like something sitting on my chest with glowing red eyes trying to suck the life out of me and It was really hard to wake up from and I was disoriented for about 5 min after I woke up.

That was freaky...

but those hypnagogic hallucinations are pretty real seeming

16. Maybe, but this was like an interruption of my dream,
and I actually woke up...got up and fixed my tea and brought in the newspaper.

Never had an incubus nightmare; though my cats like to sleep on my chest. One of them prefers his butt-end toward my face; which is a helluva thing to wake up to, let me tell you...

20. Dogs can manage to "say" something that sounds like Mom.
But in a whisper? Don't know about that.

'Cause, if you are, I think I've solved your mystery.

Actually, that would seriously freak me out.

30. I once awoke to someone saying my name
Edited on Thu Mar-15-07 11:37 PM by in search of sanity
The voice was kind of a loud whisper and was to the left and behind me slightly, as though the speaker was leaving my bedroom. It was freaky. Someone said it was a sign that my guides were contacting me.
As freaky as that was, it must have been freakier to have someone call you Mom.
I hope this is not too personal, but did you miscarry or have a child die young? Yes, I'm going for the metaphysical/spiritual angle here.

On edit -- you may want to post this in a forum called Astrology, Spirituality and ALternative Healing, if you are receptive to receiving metaphysical explanations.
