Is there any such thing as drinking too much tea?
Edited on Thu Mar-15-07 02:23 PM by LynneSin
I drink a ton of tea everyday. Mind you, this is fresh brewed, decaffeinated, unsweetened and usually either green, white or red tea with some yummy fruit flavor to it. I have a tea brewer and use fresh tea leaves and find myself drinking like 6-8 glasses of it a day. I still drink alot of water but maybe not as much as I use to now that I'm drinking all this tea.

Is there anything wrong with it? Please advise!

Edit Note: I don't drink soda, I very rarely drink sugary drinks and I really need to avoid caffeinated stuff because it just gets me too wired.

1. I don't see any problem with drinking that much tea.
From your teeth and gums all the way through your digestive system tea has benefits.
I drink tea in the morning and have unsweetened iced tea with dinner. I couldn't live without tea of all kinds.

2. Drinking too much of anything can be bad for you.
Even water. But as long as you don't reach that point, I would guess that tea is fine. I've heard that it's better for you than just drinking water.

3. It isn't the amount - that's a lie. It's the attitude and the reason for drinking tea,

and what one does while drinking.

Some can do a drink a day and are fine. Some might even be able to do four a day and not be teaoholics. Some can be teaoholics on one a day.

Quantity is irrelevant (though maybe at the litre a day line, the line has been crossed).

The question is, does the drinking lead to ignoring other aspects of one's life (hygiene, financial management, children, spouse, family, house, bill paying, job). If one is ignoring essential parts of one's life in favor of tea, then one is an teaoholic.

Anyone who thinks it is solely a quantity issue has bought into a lie
:)

yes this is stolen.

4. oxalates can increase the risk of kidney stones
But I'm pretty sure you would have to drink like gallons for it to be a concern.

Tea is great for you :hi:
