I just got a $35,000 hospital bill! I'm going to Disneyland!
I can laugh, only because we have insurance (we'll be out about 4k, but still...)

I asked my (fiscally conservative) husband how universal health care sounds, now.

Yesterday, we got a new toilet.
I have so many bruises on my arms, they almost look tan.
I had a caesar salad for dinner, and my tummy hurts.
Also, SophieMN broke my laptop.
:hi:

4. It is better!
My husband went in for angiogram a couple weeks ago, and it caused him to have a stroke. He was in the ICU for a couple days, and a regular room for a day. He's doing very well now, though.

Congrats on the new toilet though! :woohoo:

Glad your husband is doing well. :)

The stupid test caused the stroke- they should pay for it! Too bad it doesn't work that way, eh?

If you didn't order it, you shouldn't have to pay for it. :)

14. You Never Know...
a call to administration complaining goes a looooonnnnnnggg way in the new health care environment, you see in the not so distant future, Medicare payments will be tied to patient satisfaction, and there is a BIG focus on that right now.

I'd call the administrator of the facility and say, you know, the stroke my husband had was caused by your treatment and you want me to pay WHAT?

raise a little hell!

I work in a hospital and I'll tell you right now, the administration here pays BIG TIME ATTENTION to the squeaky wheels because they want those patient satisfaction scores high (now just for getting insurance contracts)

9. Things are going well.
I was expecting a horrible bill, so it wasn't a big surprise. We're having alot of fun working on the new house. My parents keep stopping by and marveling at how much we've already gotten done on the place. I think I'm going to have some great arm muscles by the time I get everything painted!

37. Well, just make sure that your arm muscles don't end up like this guy's....

You'd have to get an anchor tattoo on said forearm. And legally change your nephew's names to Pipeye, Pupeye, Poopeye, and Peepeye.

13. As long as we pay them *something* every month,
I don't think they can do much about it.
I refuse to stress over it. Life's too short.

22. What a bill!!
Had one of those just in January for my daughter after her spell in ICU. Thank goodness for insurance. Out of pocket for us though was $500. I would talk with the insurance company and see if they would pay for more on the bill to get your "Out of Pocket" amount down. $4000 sounds like a little too much to me to be paying out to the hospital. Good luck and glad to hear that your husband is better!

36. Very Scary
Between 3 ambulance rides, the life flight, 2 days in ICU, 3 days in Peds. it came up to a pretty penny. She was in Diabetic DKA and we didn't know she was Type 1 diabetic. We didn't know the signs. Those hospitals slam you every which way they can between medication, labs, doctors, room, etc. And the ICU is by the hour! Just very thankful that we do have insurance, or we would be hurting very badly right now.

23. Our bill for you know who was almots $600,000 between the two
surgeries.

I'm still sorting through EOBs and bills. It's horrendous. So much paperwork, I know something is going to fall through the cracks and wind up on my credit report.

I REALLY wish doctors and hospitals wouldn't send a bill until AFTER they received payment from insurance. It makes it too easy to lose track of the fact that you owe when you keep thinking that insurance is going to pay.

At our regular doctor's, we have a $3000 CREDIT. How did we end up with that? No friggin' idea.

38. Clearly you wouldn't be making such use of the medical system
without insurance. See, if you'd had to pay for tha trout of your own pcket, you would have just taken a couple aspirin and gritted your teeth. Clearly this is a case of insurance raising the cost of health care in this country!

(I hope I don't have to ass that this is sarcasm!)
