I've been stewing over this for days and I'd like some feedback
Once a month our city garbage collects tires. I put a tire out for collection a couple days before the tire pick up. The tire disappeared before pick up and my sister later noticed that the next door neighbor brats had a tire used as part of a snow fort. No skin off my nose, people can take junk off the curb. But then bam there's the tire on my curb again. The neighbor on the other side came over to complain that it looked unsightly sitting at the curb and he remarked that it had been tagged by the garbagemen. Well tire day had come and gone and the tag said that there wasn't another one for 3 weeks. So I have this tire sitting on the curb of my house. I'm selling the house so I'd prefer not to have the tire sitting on my curb but I also don't want to put it in the garage or the basement for the same reason.

My feeling is that since the neighbor took the tire it became theirs and it should be their problem if they don't want it now. I think putting it back on my curb pretty much equals illegal dumping. WTF?

1. I think what I'd do is put it on the curb in front of their house.
If somebody comes over to complain, explain yourself. You are in the right.

2. I did it
I actually took the tire and knocked on the door to tell them that it was now their problem. Even though their car was in the driveway nobody answered the door. I left the tire on their front porch. I haven't been back yet but I wouldn't be surprised to find they've stuck it back on my curb. I'm not going to play games with them at that point, I'll just stick it in the garage until next month. I am SO glad to be moving away from these assholes.

4. Assholes is right. Sigh.
I just don't get some people. I hope your house sells quickly - more quickly than mine!

3. In my opinion, that tire is theirs. They took it.
Rules of the game say you can't take trash back to where you found it - ya gotta keep it.

Too bad you missed the chance when the guy was complaining to tell him that the tire wouldn't be there if his kids hadn't stolen it and it had gone in the trash like it was supposed to.

I'm glad you took the tire back to them - I'll be curious to hear what happens!
