What does Nat King Cole have to do with Winslow? Winslow isn't mentioned in Route 66, which he is singing here. :shrug:

I'm not sure if he mentions Winona, Arizona or not. The actual lyrics for that song does have Winona but it's often left off of some covers.

It is mentioned in RTE. 66; the odd thing is that Winslow is EAST of Flagstaff.

9. Drove through there 22 years ago while delivering a Cadillac from Flagstaff to

Chicago (got hooked up with the car, a new Fleetwood, while staying at the youth hostel in Flagstaff), and that Eagles song came on the radio right as we passed through the Winslow exits. It was just like in the movies. :D

Later on it resonated with me pretty strongly when I was walking along the main road in Van Horn, TX, near the Paisano Pete statue...a truck filled with pretty young Texas women cruised past and I got whistled at and a "hey, cowboy!." :-)

Those were the days!
