1. They look like desperate denial to me
Apple made some funny ads. Why does that irk PC folks?

You know what your link is like? It's like that FOX version of the Daily Show or Colbert Report.

Besides, where's the missing picture, the one that says PC just died of a heart attack? Realistically, that's all I can think of when I look at that guy.

2. Ahhh, a mac user
I just thought they were funny parodies. So sorry to offend, I didn't realize anyone would get so worked up over them.

9. I really need to keep pressing home the thought they're just tools.
And avoid these discussion altogether.

Or at least go to cnet's discussion forums and engage in the war of words over there.

10. Yep, tools

I could give a flying wahoo what anyone uses. I don't care what type of underwear anyone wears, and I don't care what computer they use. BUT, it really is funny how insanely worked up people on both sides get over the whole thing, as if it really matters what type you use.

8. Three words:
Truth.
In.
Advertising.

And now for many more words:

Again, for all those adverts saying Macs are easier to use and to connect peripherals to, I recall reading on internet forums people whining about certain cameras' or printers' incompatibilities with the Mac, which really shows how worthless advertising is. Then again, since when is thinking encouraged in this country? Everybody wants "ease of use" and then complains offshoring occurs because Americans don't want to think? /conjecture

It's as simple as that. :D

3. The whole PC Mac thing
reminds me too much of a place I contracted for a year. the Unix admins were always snearing at us because we worked on "toy" computers and they worked on the big iron.

7. Just like the AS/400 and Unisys mainframe programs I know of... in a way...
they claim PCs are toys too. :D I never asked 'em about Macs, but I can imagine their response only being more scathing.

Everybody has an opinion.

In the end, they're all tools and what one needs them for. "brand loyalty" is illogical, which is precisely why I buy Asus brand motherboards and PNY brand video cards... :spray: (Just jivin')

I no longer deem platform adherence a pseudo-religion; I'll prod Linux as well when I have to and I use a computer to accomplish tasks. it's a bit too late to meander which is best. Especially since one company could readily port their OS to real PCs and make more money but like any stubborn goat refuses to...

(just don't get me started on OS/2...)

6. Quicktime format. Yuck... (in short, commercials are empty propaganda to sell a product.)
I'll wait to re-install itunes, which dumps their quicktime app... the last time I installed quicktime, to attempt to remove it would have ripped out portions of Windows (I got a dialogue box warning if I removed quicktime, certain applications may fail - and the list was surprisingly long. It's a joke, adding to a list of reasons why Apple - as a company - continues to depress me every day. I used to like them and their itunes is the most generous in terms of DRM...)

I have seen a couple of the ads on tv in the past. All I can say are "spin" and "hubris" aimed at the same sort of people cultists try to indoctrine... (maybe that's their definition of "think different"?). A cursory glance on internet forums has Mac users moaning about product incompatibilities too. Apple made those adds so add that to my list as well.

Oh, to all the jive talk that Apples are immune to malware... google "45 megapatch" and/or "seventh Apple security patch release in three months" and wince. OS holes DO exist. I do know OS X is overall superior to Windows in that regard, but it is not immune. No platform is. Common sense, and not marketing hubris, will do far more to prevent problems. And one day a lot of Mac people might just feel a lot of regret when the hackers aim for targets other than the most popular... And given the cost of Apple's equipment, one is surprised they already haven't done so en masse. (A thousand people with pennies still ends up being more profitable than ten people with quarters, which is why non-mainstream OSes are typically ignored...)
