Could not fucking care less that it's St. Pat's Day. Couldn't give a damn. Couldn't give a rat's ass.

But for all of you who enjoy the celebrations, have at it! And you have a good one this year because you have all of Sunday to recover from your green beer hangovers and excessive and God-almighty flatulence from the over-boiled shittily done cabbage that you ate at the restaurant that decides to become Irish for a day and cook stuff that they don't normally cook so they do it poorly. Have fun tonight celebrating!! :toast:

And have a good rest tomorrow!

I was watching Alton Brown the other day, and he said that corned beef and cabbage are not traditional in Ireland - it became traditional in the US because so many early Irish immigrants ended up in or near Jewish neighborhoods in New York, and in those neighborhoods corned beef was cheap and readily available. I didn't know that! But it makes sense, what with Ireland not having a huge beef industry like the US.

1. I'm afraid I'll be the lone party pooper.
Came down with a bad sinus infection last night.

No wonder I was so tired and silly.
I'm still pondering the 'an historian'-'a historian' thread.
For some reason I can't get my hands on any concrete grammar
rules for a+an.

So, it's green tea , Vitamin C and my antibiotics for me (as soon
as the doctor calls it in to my pharmacy).

But my son is going to an Irish pub tonight to have his
usual Samuel Adams. His limit is two, so he'll be OK.

;-)

3. When I was growing up every day WAS saint patrick's day
So it's no different today. Mom shoves a shitload of potatoes down my yob and Dad gets drunk and tells us all how much he hates the government. Really doesn't get much more Irish than that.

5. Now don't mince words, Rabrrrrrrr, tell us what you REALLY think!
:D

Our plans? Well, we're going to our kid's school fundraiser tonite, where they're doing this whole "Pot of Gold" (yeah, right!)themed dinner auction.

The idea is they ply us with free champagne and then we bid on everything.

It's fun, though, getting dressed up and hangin' out with all the other parents we normally see in sweats and t-shirts. Maybe I'll even wear my green dress, to get in the spirit. heh.

:hi: Have fun whatever you end up doing!

9. It's oddly appropriate that people should overindulge in green beer and gassy foods.
Saint Patrick turned an island of happy, lusty pagans and turned them into uptight Catholics. Tomorrow morning, he inflicts pain upon a larger segment of the world's population.

10. If you got more ~fiber~ in your diet,
this wouldn't happen.

13. Gin is considered a fiber, right?
I mean, that's what my whole diet has been based on...

18. It's made from whole grain
I mean, originally there was whole grain involved. Therefore, it's as good as Cheerios! Only with a buzz!

19. I pretty much agree with you (and I'm part Irish!)
I didn't do anything today that I wouldn't do on any other Saturday, except for ordering in Chinese food (which I do fairly regularly anyway). I guess that makes me a bad Irishman.

Anyway, :toast: to everybody who made merry today.
