Personally, I just don't give a shit anymore. That's why I don't post in the political forums. I bet you're better than that, though. When somebody flames you just hit alert if it's necessary and ignore them.

2. It's hard to believe how hostile it can get in there

It used to be a lot more laid back a couple of years ago. Nowadays, if you don't have every little tidbit of fact completely correct, you'll get jumped for silly shite like not knowing snowfall records in Washington State for the last 50 years.

And yet, sometimes I read something that compels me to say something. And sometimes I'm wrong, but so what? How about telling me what I don't know instead of trying to cut me down?

This is Keyboard Rage, and it never ceases to amaze me.

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that everybody is really on edge these days. Not just the folks here--but everywhere else too. Makes me wonder what the collective psyche is getting ready for or maybe just anticipating--ya know?

Don't fret about not bailing on GD and LBN and GD Politics. They are all kind of like a train wreck that you just can't look away from. Your fascination with them is a lot like a "gapers block" on the freeway!

I can't call him by name, I can't stand to see him or even hear him. Yep, I am angry, and it shows in a lot of ways. I try and remind myself that my anger is not directed at everyone--just a few "n'er do wells" but I catch it creeping out more and more every week that goes by.

Imagine what it would be like if we'd lived under this for 20 or 30 years! No place would be safe. Frankly I'm worried about what it will be like as the Primaries really heat up.

that there are some posters, especially in GD, who seem to make a sincere effort to disagree in way that is as condescending and dismissive as possible. I don't think they're really interested in persuading the other person. They don't want to engage in a civil argument. It seems their intent is mainly to humiliate and deride the other person. :(

That's a pretty nasty and unproductive personality trait in my mind. Being arrogant, disagreeable, and dismissive is hardly a recipe for persuasiveness.
