4. Gorgeous pics!
How come we never see them in the Photography group? ;)

The cherry/apple/peach trees are blooming here too, but today it started raining and the weather forecast is bad. However, I did a few shots of camellias/magnolias last week in the local botanical garden. Here's one if I might (inside of a big white magnolia):

And besides, there's way more traffic here!

I hear ya about the weather........

It's all cool and foggy and gloomy here......

And of course you can post a pic in my thread!

Your photo is just stunning! I really applaud you for doing such a lovely job!

9. Thank you!
There's even snow predicted, but I refuse to believe it yet. Hopefully not, since everything is blossoming right now - a freeze would ruin the fruits of this year.

I'm off for today. Have a wonderful evening!

8. Purty!
I was starting to get the Spring planting itch when it was warm earlier last week. Now there is more snow on the ground. :( But I'm still planning on doing a vegetable garden this year! I haven't had one in years. I miss it.

10. Those are beautiful shots, Peggy.

Through those great pics I've remembered to be grateful
for the beauty we do have around us,
instead of obsessing on our lack of rain this season
and the June Gloom that came in March.

Thanks, I needed that!

15. My dear ganeshji...
Thank you sooo much...

I cannot really take any credit for this beauty........

When my husband and I built our house, we hired a landscape designer, and a professional gardener for the installation...

We wanted a low-maintenance, and a low-water usage type of garden...

And that's what we got!

I have a lovely teak bench and I don't sit on it often enough...

But I did today!

It is a most serene spot.......

I hope your garden will soon come up to your expectations...

And his troupe of workers!

I just live there..........And photograph it!

I thank you for your very kind words!

The peach blossoms are the best part of the tree....

The blue flowers are coriolus, I believe...

And the red/orange ones are clivia miniata...

Very easy togrow, and quite showy.........

I love them!

They can be grown indoors in pots in colder parts of the country...

Here they do well outdoors!

Thanks for asking!

Huh...Not so sure I agree about weeds!

If that's the case, then my yard was full of incredibly important and unknown plants!

I'm sorry you're still getting snow.......

I grew up (till I was 8) in Evanston, Ill., and I remember being awfully tired of snow this time of year....

It was dirty, and everywhere.....and it always fell down my neck...

Hope you enjoyed the pics!

30. I know what you mean
I like winter, but when March comes around, I want it OVER.

I moved into a house a couple of years ago, and I haven't been able to garden as much as I would like. It's a small yard dominated by three very large, very messy trees. The shade is quite dense, and the trees soak up all the water and nutrients from the soil. Growing anything is an exercise in futility. I'm thinking of getting some boulders and cultivating moss on them like a Japanese garden of sorts. I don't know, I'm still trying to decide what to do, and I don't want to start until I have an idea where I want to go.

31. Would it be possible to remove one of the trees?
Normally I am against that sort of thing........

I mean, I belong to the Sierra Club!

But in your situation, it might be just the ticket......

Or maybe there are city ordinances against that...

You might consult with a landscaper, or someone from a local nursery...

And I like your idea for a Japanese garden!

32. It would be possible, but expensive
The one tree that my neighbors would love having me cut down is a cottonwood that's about 40' high. It would cost about $3000 to take it down. I also have a maple that's about the same size that I think is causing most of the trouble. And a horse chestnut that is very pretty, but causes the dense shade. Personally, I like having mature trees in my yard, I just wish they were different trees.

The burgundy flowers are clivia miniata!

They are a tropical flower that does well here.......

And they can be grown indoors in colder climates.......

Funny you see them as burgundy....Someone else said they looked red!

And in reality, they are more orangey/red!

Very hardy, and I love them....

Is that one of those ornamental peaches, where the fruit just gets green then drops off? We had one of those when I was growing up; the fruit made excellent anti-sibling missiles (which my mom disapproved of for some reason...)

I live in Northern California , but when I was a kid in Massachusetts I remember seeing crocus coming up through the snow and blooming
We are lucky to get a head start on warm weather, but I do miss the seasons (well, maybe not the slush season, but that doesn't last too long).
