When you have dreams of flying, do you "float" or fly like Superman?
I have had a series of dreams in the last couple of weeks where I fly, but just float standing up. It's real weird, I float to very high heights, above buildings and touch things like weathervanes.

2. in the wind. Ever since I was in Alaska when it was really windy. We put 2x4s on our chests and
they didn't fall off.

We could lean into the wind and not fall forward (but we wouldn't get blown away if we tried to jump up unfortunately).

3. Sometimes I kind of bounce, like Tigger and/or the dude in that movie about Flubber.
:bounce: I've had dreams where I'm trying to run or walk and can't stay connected to the ground.

Usually it's more of a Superman/Supergirl-like flight, which is much more dignified.

4. This Is Sort Of Embarrassing... But I Swim
Breast-stroke mainly.

Must be because I was on a swimteam as a kid.

17. Me too. Breast stroke.
I have to work really hard to get off the ground.
Once I'm airborne it's much easier.
Weird.

18. yeah, it's most like swimming for me too
and usually follows a period where I am trying to run unsuccessfully (where your brain sort of realizes the body is paralyzed), and I either jump or float up and "remember" I can fly.

Sometimes it is a large jump where I float slowly back down, but usually I can swim around. I've had these dreams since I was a kid too, and yeah, I have been a good swimmer since I can remember, so maybe that's why.

6. Only one time in my life did I have a dream of flying.
Edited on Mon Mar-19-07 12:27 AM by sammythecat
Like Superman in t-shirt and shorts. Flying slow over a quite ordinary countryside. :)

The only significant thing going on in my life at the time was that I was fiercely in love. Probably the "fiercest" of my life. I don't know if one had anything to do with the other, but they both happened at the same time.

7. Float. I don't have flying dreams often, but if I do, it's always very ethereal
and rather spirit-like, rather than super-heroine-ish.

8. I float on the air currents, like a glider.
Or Wonder Woman. But I can do it inside as well as out.

11. When I was a kid I would float just above the treetops
if I was just a little bit lower I could grab a branch and climb down. Usually I had to hope one of my older brothers would notice me and help.
Thanks for reminding me to take my Vitamin B6, it helps with dream recall. zzzzzz:boring:zzzzzz

14. When I was a kid, around 10 or 11,
I would feel like I was floating a la Supergirl above my body and I could see my sister and our beds and I could float through the house. The dreams felt so real because I could control the height of my floating and I could touch things. I'd see things going on like clocks that kept ticking and people walking by down the street.

These dreams never felt quite like dreams and I must admit they scared me. To be honest, they felt like out of body experiences because they were so real. I never had experiences or dreams like these since.

15. I float, standing upright
Sometimes I dream that I'm walking down a street in my old neighborhood, and suddenly my feet just leave the pavement and I float several feet above the ground.

19. More like swimming
Probably why I like swimming underwater so much. Though there are times when flying in a dream, that I'm afraid to touch the ground in fear that I won't be able to continue flying. So I go for more altitude.

21. I fly but it's really hard
I make a bit of a leap like Superman does but it only takes me so high. I have to work and concentrate really hard to get up to about the level of the treetops and if I lose my concentration I start to go down.

I love to fly in dreams but I wish I could go really high.
