SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. -- Arson charges are pending against a Seminole County woman who is accused of setting her house on fire using a bottle of whiskey.
The fire had nearly consumed this house on Markham Road when firefighters arrived Sunday. All they could do was let it burn. Pamela Hawkins rented the house to 28-year-old Jennifer Walsh and believes Walsh set the house on fire because she was severely depressed.
Walsh's husband committed suicide last week.
"It's a tragedy in that he hung himself. The wife felt she needed to do this," said Hawkins of the incident.
Hawkins also said the couple's eight kids were not home when the house caught fire. They were taken into custody by the Department of Children and Families.
