What city needs an NFL team?
If the NFL were to decide to expand, which city should get the new team?

I've heard that Vegas has resisted getting professional teams in the past because of the potential problems with sports gambling.

but one of the caveats by the league would be that no betting on that team would be allowed.

It seems like they have entered the market for both NBA and NHL at the same time KC has. Each figures the other as some of their stiffest competition.

Although the hard part about putting a team in LA is that there's no room for a new stadium, unless they wanted to demolish or remodel one of the old ones.

It'd be sweet if the Olympics would come back to La La Land, but I highly doubt it would happen. Compton would make a great place for the 100 meter relay!

It would be sweet if we could get some new venues here, so yeah they could work for a NFL team. I heard they were planning to build a new stadium next to Angel Stadium but I doubt that will happen either.

Why is it called the World Series when only teams from the US are allowed to play? (Obviously lifted from that Monty Python guy)

But back to the point, I don't know what to call it. They played NFL games in Mexico, right? Japan and China too, I believe.

59. Personally, I would say that NO city NEEDS an NFL team
Sport brings in far less money to any city than a thriving arts scene - and by arts I mean theater, dance, music, and visual arts. The money goes to smaller organizations, it stays in the city and revitalizes city centers.

Sports teams on the other hand are owned by fat cat corporate weasels who take money out of a city, the fans spend far less in local buisnesses and the city gives these teams enormous tax breaks for deigning to stay in one place.

So, no, I don't know any city that needs an NFL team. Anybody want the Eagles (Iggles)?

cause the filthy Giants and Jets both moved to New Jersey, the petro-toxin state, 20-something years ago.

As someone thinking about a relocation down I-95, that makes me happy though. Idiotic stadium deals are not good for people and other living things.

with the time difference, our home games would make ready-made Sunday night games! The only problem would be that former Islanders minor-league baseball announcer, and rabid repuke, Al Michaels would want to come back...

We could call them the "Honolulu Paniolos" (paniolo meaning "cowboy") or the "Honolulu Farce" (one DUer's pet name for our current NFL entry, the Pro Bowl). Or, we could take the Lions off Detroit's hands: the dominant color on the Lions' unies (besides silver) is, for some reason lost to history, called "Honolulu Blue"! Not even 5thGenDem, an ex-sportswriter in Michigan, knows why.
