My poor little girl spent the weekend in the hospital. Horrible pain, fevers and rounds of tests. And more appts and more tests coming up. I am lucky that she was so super healthy for 17 years, but now I am hating seeing her this way. :(

12. It has been awful.

When we were in the ER, and it took them 2 hours to get any dilaudid into her, I just kept repeating "It's okay baby...don't cry" and feeling more inept at this parenting thing than I've ever felt in her 17 years. Thanks skygazer. :hug:

When my daughter was 17 we spent a night in ER. The resident had started to have her prepped for an appendectomy - even though the 'tests' were inconclusive. She had severe abdominal pain, etc. and it really seemed like she had appendicitis.

Fortunately, at the last minute some doctor up the chain of command recognized that it was a form of gastroenteritis that settles in a particular part of the intestinal system - and had symptoms very like appen. - but *not*. Whew. She almost had unnecessary surgery. It was a really close thing.
