People who say "You're just jealous" when you disagree with them

Am I the only person who finds this obnoxious and infantile? You know, like in a discussion of movie stars or singers, when you say you don't care for someone and someone else responds with, "You're just jealous!"

As if the only possible reason I might not like their idol is because I have some strange jealousy of them (of what? their looks? their success? I've never been sure). It's not like it's something I dwell on but I'm always amazed at that response, especially since I've seen it from people who actually claim to be adults.

Just an observation.

1. I agree that it's incredibly obnoxious.

It's along the lines of saying a woman can't have a valid reason to be upset, so if she gets upset it must be "that time of the month."

I've seen it right here on DU. Several months ago, I was told I must be jealous of Heather Mills because I remarked that I didn't care for her. :eyes: And that was by somebody who I know has not been in high school for quite some time.
