flexeril is pretty good, although it gives me a bit of a "hangover" effect the next day.

flexeril with a darvocet chaser is even better :silly:

7. In terms of pain killers...
it's ibuprofen.

Good thing is that you can pretty much keep taking it...it's kind of hard to OD on, unlike Tylenol. My dentist had me on 1000mgs 6 times a day (30 OTC ibuprofen pills a day) waiting on a root canal for an abcess, more-or-less sans medical supervision. I don't recommend taking that much. though without being told to by a doctor or other medical professional.

N.B.: This is not medical advice. I am NOT a doctor.

10. okay - this may sound odd, but
Pamprin.

It has a mild muscle relaxer in addition to the pain meds. (Oh and a mild diuretic, too; just in case you start wondering why you have to go to the potty so often.)

20. Maybe I have the answer?!
Edited on Mon Mar-19-07 10:02 PM by mentalsolstice
I have mild cerebral palsy...I can walk, swim, ride a 2-wheel bike. If I'm feeling really good, I have a barely noticeable limp. As I get more fatigued, my disability becomes more noticeable. Additionally, as CP is a lot about muscle spasms, well, I have those. I'll wake up just fine, but as I'm getting dressed, all of sudden, my upper left side (or right side) will go out. Or we'll be hiking up a hill, and one of my hips will go into spasms.

Overall, including prescriptions, I've found Percogesic to be the best. It's over the counter, but sometimes hard to find. It comes in two strengths (both of them will knock you out). I discovered it at the beach...I was having a severe muscle spasm in my shoulder, and didn't know what to do...my husband asked the pharmacist, and he recommended Percogesic. See if you can find it, READ THE PRECAUTIONS! CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR! As in, I won't be responsible or liable for adverse effects! I don't know you from Adam! Don't sue me! I'm a retired attorney, so I have to add all the warnings!

BTW. it's acetaminophen and phenyltoloxamine, Tylenol...

I do love your posts, and I hope you can find a pain-free solution!

25. As someone else said,
muscle relaxants tend to be RX. The very best muscle relaxer I have found is valium but of course it's addictive. Flexeril works pretty well.

A glass of wine, 20 minutes in a hot tub and sex works really well, too.

Good luck...hope you feel better soon. Muscle spasms hurt.

27. Robaxacet or Robaxasol
apparently they've also got a Robaxin.

It's all OTC - up here, anyway.

How about a hot bath and gentle stretching?

If it's a more chronic condition, acupuncture?
