It's About Time and Mister Terrific were favorites, for the short time they were on TV.

My Favorite Martian. One of the many 60's shows that was about hiding a big secret from the neighbors. There was always something to cover up. If the mom/wife wasn't a witch she was a genie, or even a car.

It starred Bill Bixby before he hulked-out.

Thundar the Barbarian. Post-apocolyptic Saturday morning cartoon fare.

9. I attended tapings of "The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour" and "That's My Mama"

among other shows. I went through a phase of going to those shows in the 1970s. The tickets were free and you could see some stars. The downside is that there were usually a lot of long, boring waits and the studios were always freezing. The "Sonny and Cher" episode I saw taped was the one where Jack Palance was the guest star. At that time I had no idea who the hell he was. Teri Garr was one of the cast regulars. The taping of "That's My Mama" I attended was the pilot episode.

You are a part of television history and not many people can say that! :D I was just once on a local kids' show and appeared a few times on another one, as a teen-ager, which was on the local PBS channel, that nobody will ever remember. *sigh* You, on the other hand, made history, and I envy you! Though I may be prejudiced, since I used to write about TV for a living, so TV became important to me... But I still think that this was very cool...:hi:

50. Thanks... although all I ever did was sit in the audience. I remember Cher cursing a lot.

Cher seemed to blow her lines frequently, and we knew when she blew her line because she just stopped and said, "Oh f**k" or something similar. It was a little shocking to see and hear her curse, in the early 1970s that kind of talk was still pretty rare in "polite company" and to see a TV star talking like that was strange. She seemed to be somewhat diva-like and primadonna-like. Sonny, on the other hand, was unflappable and took everything in stride, very easygoing and likeable. 20 years later I saw him again in person, when I was working at a newspaper and he was running for the Calif. state assembly. He breezed through the office once and waved and smiled at everyone, but didn't stop.

And I can imagine things as you described, Cher cursing and Sonny calming the waters. You've had a very unique experience and are very fortunate to have been there. My closest brush with TV celebrity was that Michelle Phillips once walked into the room when I was on the phone with my contact at FOX Network and asked directions of my friend and I heard the whole exchange. And I once met David Cassidy at Saratoga Race Track. Your stories are much better than mine and I'm impressed. I always really liked Sonny and Cher. :D

I think it was only on for 1 year, then was cancelled, but then a year later it was revived as "The New Temperatures Rising Show" but it wasn't nearly as funny as the original.
