Cubs win in 14th but still fall back half a game...
Is this a karma thingy? Am I destined to NEVER see the Cubbies in a series???

If Dubya can get appointed to the presidency, the northsiders ought to be able to provide a winner once in a lifetime...

1. How did they fall back?
Wouldn't they just stay even?

It would be great to see the Cubs v. the Red Sox in a series -- Wrigley and Fenway. Now that would be baseball!

2. I would love to see that
Edited on Fri Aug-01-03 11:04 PM by TheZoo
I'm a closet Cubs & Red Sox fan (sorry, my team is still the Mutts).

Even if it's not the Series, I want to see a game in both of those stadiums before I die, (no, I'm planning to......yet)

On edit: This is the post that I passed Ruth!!

3. Wrigley Field is the cathedral of baseball
Bart Giamatti said that. It's an awesome place.

4. If Ebbetts' Field was still around
I'd think Mr. Giamatti would have a different opinion. Then again, I'm biased because all of my elders (Dad, Grandpa, Uncle) told me how great that stadium was. I've been to Shea and Yank-off Stadiums, and hate them now. My favorite stadiums are/were Sal Magile Stadium in Niagara Falls, NY and Cashman Field in Las Vegas, NV. The former not only because it was the only time I "saved" Marie from a foul ball, but I was so close to have a batter (Bobby Higginson) look at me and I could see him flip me off after one of my comments.

6. The Cubs, the 'Stros and the Cards all won...
...so how did the Cubbies fall back 1/2 a game?? Answer: they didn't. Everything stays the same.

Great game by the way!!

Cubs and BoSox in the series?? What a lovely dream...

5. As long as my Astros keep their shit together,
you will not see the cubs in a series this year. Unless they're the wildcard.

7. Maybe you should switch to the southside,
so you can root for a winner. My god the sox are hot right now...and after such a dissapointing start, i'm loving every second of it.

Heck, my sweet little Auntie Em is an usher at Wrigley. It'd break her heart if I switched.
