Elliott came in third last season on AI. I LOVE his voice.
Review from SF Chronicle:
ELLIOTT YAMIN
Elliott Yamin negotiates a fine line between old-school soul and contemporary R&B on his first album and does so with such vocal aplomb that he threatens to upstage Taylor Hicks in the popular imagination, much as Jennifer Hudson has Fantasia Barrino. The 2006 "American Idol" contender is a master of melismas, those syllable-splitting curlicues that too many of the show's contestants overuse. Yamin employs them sparingly, however, always in service of his songs. The tunes, five of which he had a hand in writing, are uniformly strong, with plenty of melodic contours for him to wrap his pliant pipes around. The ringer is his Donny Hathaway-inspired reading of Leon Russell's "A Song for You," with little more than acoustic piano for accompaniment. It was breathtaking on "American Idol" and is every bit as much on the CD. -- Lee Hildebrand
