Fashion Question: Can I get away with a purple sweater-shirt?
Sales call: I'm the techie so no tie.

So I have a choice of a long sleeve merino wool purple sweatershirt (kind of like a long sleeve polo shirt)

Or a patterned oxford shirt. Keep in mind this is Detroit, and they're getting sunny 37 F weather here.

1. I'm pretty sure you can get away

with wearing anything, imho. ;)

...or nothing as the case may be (and I have a distinct rememberance of a certain picture to prove it)

3. Black wool slacks, flat front, no pleats or cuffs

I hate pleats and cuffs :)

No jacket

4. Toss a black jacket over it and you're good.
Without, you're close to good--a grey sweater would be better than purple (less eye-catching, which is kind of what you want). Yeah, there's something fussy about the whole pleats/cuffs deal. Plus, pleats are a bitch to iron.

5. Ulp - no jacket
We Californians never have them... :scared:

Again, it is a dark purple. Almost black.

6. California? Why didn't you say so?
What the hell--you could wear a Hawaiian shirt, shorts, sandals and black socks and nobody'd look twice. But dude, a good black jacket is a must-have item. Get your ass out to your local Armani or Hugo Boss and spend the $600-or-so. You'll own it for years, and every time you put it on you'll feel like a million bucks.

9. Got it.
That was weirdly complicated. Yeah, if you're traveling east on business, you need a good jacket.

10. Yes
That would be acceptable. It was kinda chilly this morning. Wear the warmer one.

11. I think you can wear the sweater-shirt.
Particularly since it hasn't gotten to spring like temps yet. I'm in Chicago and it's still sort of chilly out today.
