Who here has never served Jury Duty?
Well technically I was picked one time but I was in college so they deferred me. That was almost 20 years ago and not one nibble for Jury Duty.

1. I was rejected the one time I got my jury summons.
That was 6 years ago. Nothing since.

3. I've been called twice but never chosen
The last time I had to work an over-nighter then drive straight to the courthouse where I had to sit and wait for 3 hours until they dismissed me. I would have made a marvelous juror - I would have been the one snoring in the jury box.

4. I've never served.
I've only even had to show up at the court house one time. Stayed there all day but wasn't chosen for a jury.
I would serve if I had too. Just never had the opportunity.

5. I sat in the basement of the courthouse for a week
Was called for two panels, but the defense DQ'd me for one case and the Judge DQ'd me for the other.

6. I've never been summoned....
it's kinda weird since I've lived in this area for over 20 years.

My husband did once, but he got it deferred because we had vacation plans that week and already had airline tix and
reservations. Then when he did go, they didn't need him.

11. Same here
I got the call during my last weeks of college. I told them I'd serve any other time, but please let me graduate. That was 1984.

Since then, I've gotten one other inquiry, but I didn't qualify because I lived outside of their jurisdiction.

It was for this trial.

My friend was in a band with one of the kids Kip killed. They didn't want me on the jury.

14. Called, but didn't serve. All 20-40 year old men were removed from the pools by the lawyers.
Five trials, and no men 20-40 years old on any of the juries. You'd think those lawyers didn't want young men on the juries! That's fine, though. I didn't want to serve anyways.

15. Been Called. Never Served.
I always get "bounced" during the selection phase.

It makes me feel real insecure.

16. I've never gotten picked
The last time I got called, it was for a malpractice case. I asked the judge to dismiss me at the beginning fo the day, because never in a million years were they going to allow a doctor on the jury for a malpractice case. The judge refused and I sat there all day until my number was called (I was around #40 for the day).

On screening, the defense attorney asked me if they showed an Xray and I saw something on it that they didn't point out, could I ignore that. I said "Of course not". I was dismissed, as predicted. It did make me wonder what they were planning NOT to point out on the Xrays.

21. I too would like to
be selected for jury duty. My friends thinks I'm nuts. Then again, I don't think I'd like a child and/or wife abuse case. I would just cry.

19. Did it last week.
My county has a one day or one trial jury duty every 3-5 years. I sat in the jury lounge all day on my laptop. Luckily all I had to do is wait until 2:30 pm when they released us all. An easy $15.

I've gotten out of it every time because I've had small children at home. Next year, I don't have to say I can't if called. I'd like to do it at least once.

27. I'm 38 and have never served
Three or four times I've gotten a summons, but my group has always been dismissed before we even had to go to the court house.

Another couple of times I received a notice but once was living out of state and once was just about to move out of the county.

29. Me. I've always been able to get out of it whenever they summon me
b/c of my childcare considerations. It would be too much of a hardship for me to serve when they're still relatively young.

31. Served three times
The first time in municipal court: criminally negligent homicide and DUI.

Second time in federal court a year later: drug trafficking.

Third time: Grand jury.

Every time I went, I got picked.

Stupid honest face...grr....

32. Got a letter once,
and made the call.

Never had to go in. That was about 9 years ago. I think I finally had a stable address for once. Before that, I moved like once a year, so it was hard to keep tabs on me.

33. I got picked twice,
both for civil cases. The parties settled the cases each time and we were dismissed. Let's see. . .$6 for jury duty, $5.50 for parking, and $.50 for me. I'm golden!

Been called a few other times, but never chosen in those instances.

36. I've been called and even empaneled
and then rejected each and every time.

(I work with my husband who is a criminal defense attorney and worked ten years for a law firm that did personal injury/worker's compensation work).

I'm not a good candidate for jury work..will end up pissing somebody off
