I have developed a Whole Foods habit
On a student budget I don't know if that's such a great thing.

Sometimes I just gotta have my brown rice sushi and a side of tabouleh.

1. you know, it may just be me...
...but buying the same amount of food on a fixed budget @ a place like Whole Foods and Trader Joes fills me up much, much more than buying stuff at a regular grocery store.

2. What if we're not in love with hummus?
:P

I've been doing a lot of stir-frying recently, as I'm saving up for a trip to Italy. It's remarkable how far you can go on a budget.

Here's a recipe slightly different than mine. Because I'm lazy.

23. Stir-fry + rice will last you all week for about 6-7$ to make
It's really a cheap and pretty healthy meal if you use a lot of veggies and try to cut back on sugar/sodium based sauces.

I usually get:

eggs
soy milk
cereal
hummus
bananas
rye bread

Lasts me a week. But if I do splurge, yes, the sushi is amazing :)

6. We've got one slated to open next Spring '08
it's been fairly controversial, b/c our community already has so many local health food, independently owned stores....but ultimately, I think it'll be a good thing. I personally can't wait! :bounce:

:hi:

27. my son will be 11 next month
he's almost as tall as I am!

It's actually pretty cool. I get a lot of eye rolling and complaints and sneakers that need to be fumigated!

My husband is doing contract work now for a guy who does more design type stuff, so that's cool. And I've been busy with work, reading and drum lessons. Plus ,the sun is actually shining! So things are actually pretty good!

I just found out that a Whole Foods is coming here, about 5 blocks from me. Oddly, I have a real thing for their tofu stroganoff.

If only she had a Whole Foods instead of Albertson's.

21. I find it odd that WHole Foods made it here to Pittsburgh
before more progressive parts of California. Oh, wait, maybe that's why! We always had a co-op here, but not a lot of other "progressive" food stores.

Frankly, I prefer Trader Joes. But the WF produce and fish sections are impressive.
