I've jumped out of an airplane but there's no way in hell you'd catch me doing this
HUALAPAI INDIAN RESERVATION, Arizona (AP) -- Walking gingerly across the translucent surface, visitors hear the glass layers creak. Far below, directly underfoot, they see the Colorado River as a pea-green ribbon.

"It felt wonderful; not exactly like floating on air," said former astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who once traipsed the surface of the moon and on Tuesday became one of the first to stroll onto the Grand Canyon Skywalk, a massive glass-bottom observation deck perched 4,000 feet above the canyon's floor.

10. Wow, that is just incredible,
I've got a bunch of friends who into kiting, but launching yourself off of that cliff was mind blowing.

I wa stunned that the skier could put the brakes on as quickly as they did.

Bravo.

13. It wouldn't be the cliff that would scare me, it would be not clearing one of those rocks
that would terrify the fuck out of me.

14. That was my thought. Bad place to make a minor timing error.
Still, if I had the skill for it, that would be a blast. Almost makes skiing look fun.

22. As a friend pointed out--those rocks will ruin the bottom of your skis!
I wasn't thinking so much about the fear--that'd be pretty non-stop, so much as the gigagtic sense of OMG :wtf: in my life brought me to this moment, and what will I have to do next?!?

Chances are will see some little sidebar in Outside Magazine about the memorial scholarship fund they will set upin this guy's honor though!

12. I would love to do that.
I'd be there is a heartbeat.

I'm afraid of heights, but I enjoy them all the same. I know that's weird. The only places I can't comfortablely make myself go is wobbly places like ferris wheels. Being in a small cab that's rocking and wobbling while I'm that high up freaks me out. But I've even done that a bunch of times.

19. My first thought as well.
I say at least one touches down at the bottom of the canyon before summer is out.

18. It creaks and wobbles?
Don't think so...

:scared:

Besides, I kinda think that it's an abomination -- it's a defacement. Some things should just be left alone.

23. OMG
I am so going to do that someday (most vacations I go on now consist of me couch surfing and trying to figure out a way to get the dog to make me a sandwich)! I wonder if they yell at people for laying down and looking through the glass? Do they go out and windex it regularly? This is definitely near the top of my list of things to see/do before I die!
