Best April Fool's jokes
Edited on Thu Mar-22-07 04:11 PM by AllegroRondo
feel free to post your own experiences.

Some of the best I ever witnessed were done by my home town newspaper, in Wisconsin. We had one local staff writer who would do a bogus story every year, and still manage to catch people with it.
One year, late 70's I would guess, the story was about the Aurora Borealis, and how scientists had been observing conditions that would make it visible in our area that night. The best place to see it would be along lake Michigan, where you would have unobstructed views to the North and Northeast.

The next day, front page, pics of HUNDREDS of people gathered in parks on the lake shore, looking for an Aurora Borealis display that wasnt there.

1. I remember a time when I fed a kid his parents in chili.
That was fucking HILARIOUS!!

He was bent over, crying from laughing so hard.

At least, I've always assumed he was laughing.

Ah, well, it was pretty fuckin' funny. A good prank, indeed.

3. We faked our kid out into believing it was his birthday
Woke him up in the morning w/singing and a cake and a present.

After he blew out the candle we yelled "April Fools" He was pissed (but ate the cake anyway).

His grandparents called to wish him a happy birthday - his teacher bought him a card - even his after-school caregiver brought him a gift.

The more people said it during the day the more pissed he got.

Haven't topped that one yet

6. The best one ever was years ago when the Saturday Review
ran an article about the efforts of Congressman A.F. DAy to ban golf courses because they consumed too much land and water resources. He was going to turn them all into public parks. The article included a profile suggesting that Congressman Day hated golf because his father had neglected the family to play golf whenever he could. You should have seen all the letters they printed from irate golfers determined to fight Congressman Day!
