Is anyone else having trouble with their internets?
I can't get on I/E and can't access my emails.

I'm on Mozilla, but I have to run I/E for some work databases.

I'm currently counteroffering with a seller on EBay and this is driving me nuts.

Anybody else?

2. Okay. What's for dinner?
Me, I'm thinking sushi.

But only AFTER I win this item on EBay.

(I can't say what it is, because I'll get crucified for it, so shhhhhh)

5. That happened to me last night.
What kind of virus protection do to have? I ended up having to turn up the protection for my email accounts on Norton. I have no idea why it suddenly kept me from accessing it, but once I turned it off, no problem. (That was just for email, not the operating system in general).

7. It was working fine earlier when I was on my D &B website,
but I just tried to get on Compuserve to check my EBay counter offer and nada.

outlook express isn't working right now, either.

I think I'll shut everything down and start over.

Thanks!!!

How's the newlywed? She certainly made an absolutely stunning bride. What a gorgeous dress!

10. The problem I had just seemed to happen out of nowhere,
and didn't go away even when I did a restart. That's why I ended up turning my email spam filter off (doesn't seem to work anyway -- I do get email spam).

The newlywed is just fine. Busy, busy, busy right now, and Sunday, she and her groom take off for San Francisco for their "mini-moon" (her term). They are planning a bigger trip for the summer.

8. I can't stand Norton
Mine runs out in April and I am not using it again...it's nothing but trouble and glitches, and trying to deal with tech support is worse than trying to figure out the problems myself.

I love that pic of your daughter in the wedding gown bowling...that could win a photography contest. It's nice to see a bride protrayed as laid-back with all the bridezillas running around. My sister is getting married this weekend and she is more the bridezilla type.

11. My subscription is out soon, too, so I think I'll get a different
virus protector. Any suggestions?

I love that pic too. She was very un-Bridezilla overall, except for one week about 3 weeks before the wedding, when she was driving all of us nuts. But she settled down, and was her usual sweet, funny self.

12. hypno-toad posted this great link the other day
it rates all the top virus software
http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/

I think alot of people here have AVG and McAfee...I'm gonna get the one you sign up for a year free with...I haven't run a Norton scan in weeks and I'm not noticing any difference.

My sister had got this wedding deal started and then her shrink told her it was causing too much stress and too call it off so she postponed it for 4 months and had to redo all the invitations and all that. Sis likes things extremely complicated and to the letter so I'm staying away from it...just being around them right now is stressful because there is so much minutiae involved; I'd elope if it were me.

Oh man! She redid everything? Yikes! Seems that would be even MORE stressful than just going with the original date!

23. yes.
the first time I was kind of orbiting around it but the second time I have stayed as far away as possible. It's just too stressful. All the invitations had to be redone, and there were two showers and now the wedding this weekend, a shower this weekend, the rehearsal, all that jazz. Just the energy of 'panic' that has surrounded this whole thing is exhausting to me so I can't imagine what it's been like for them. But my sister is like that...everything has to be traditional and to the letter and perfect. Sigh.

17. I don't know what year it is, but I adore them!
They look like such fun vehicles. There's a car lot on my commute that has one for sale...it's yellow, in immaculate shape, but I'm betting that they want a small mint for it.

I've got an 83 Jeep Renegade that needs some work...I'm thinking about just selling it and buying the Thing.

22. No, but I've driven one.
Here's a photo of one with a kit on it that I always rent when MMjr and I vacation in the mountains in Tennessee...

We had a few problems with this one...I'd love to have one for a second car, but probably not for my primary transportation.

You still have one? COOL!

26. When I was teaching high school many moons ago. I had a really
fun student who had one of those.

He and three of his buddies showed up in class one day with the doors to the car claiming to be 'The' Doors.

I still laugh when I think about it. He was a great kid.

27. What exactly has happened with Norton and McAfee?
I have been having HUGE problems with both. My home desktop has Norton and my desktop and laptop from work are McAfee. All three have come to a literal halt with the hard drive grinding away on some activity.

A quick access to Windows Task Manager showed that the virus/malware programs are running in background doing some odd job. I was able to get Norton from stopping my home machine by turning off the spyware option. I similarly recovered functionality by turning off the backgroud crapola from McAfee.

Seriously, folks -- security software that denies you access to your computer is a classic case of the cure being as bad or worse than the disease.

NOTE: Prior to shutting down Norton this morning, my download speed (according to pcpitstop.com) was 14 kilobits per second. That would be fast for dialup, but not acceptable for cable. After stopping Norton's spyware option, my reported speed was greater than 6000 kilobits per second. At least it's fixed. :smoke:

28. I think it is because it is spring and all the spamulas and viri are blooming.
Been getting a ton of spam and virus snags in my filters lately. (AVG, and my internets tubes are filtered by some other company the server uses - I have been getting huge daily lists of what it catches too)
