Answer to "support the troops" line; Got called "Godless Liberal"
Hello, I was recently called a "godless liberal" for the first time on my website and it really ticked me off. Actually at first I felt kind of proud. But anyway; the person accused me of not supporting the troops, and that is what ticked me off. Ever since, I have really been thinking about how the republicans keep throwing the "support the troops" line in our faces and I think I have come up with a solution. How about rather than supporting the troops, we focus on "saving" the troops; it seems like they would rather be saved from King George than given the money so he can keep letting them die. Just a thought.

1. They just vomited the same tired old talking points at you.
That's what happens when someone has a brain the size of a walnut.

3. well, acutally I took the "godless Liberal" part as a compliment
cuz they obviously don't know what the hell they are talking about. I just thought on a wider scale this could be used. I mean, I hate saying support the troops cuz it implies you appprove of the war, but save them; that's a whole new ballgame.

as a compliment too! You must've struck a nerve! ;)

I just thought you might want to warn them with a pic.
I don't know...it's been a long day...

I support the troops but not the war!
Actually, I literally supported a troop, a while back. ;)

(This isn't me, in the article)

Evans' opposition to the war in no way conflicts with her support for the troops.

"I am so proud of my son, and all military people, whether they're in Iraq or not," Evans says.

Evans has shown that support for the troops doesn't have to mean supporting the war.

5. I've never understood why "supporting the troops" only means sending them into battle
"We support you! Now get in there and face those bullets!"

It reminds me of that scene from Young Frankenstein where Dr. Frankenstein summons the monster back to the castle by playing music from the top of the castle. The monster climbs the walls, but is having trouble getting over the top. The others rush to help him, but the Dr. stops them and says "He'd rather make it on his own." Then the monster looks at him with this expression that says "What are you? Nuts? Please help me!" Peter Boyle was great.

6. Yeah support the troops alright.
But when they come back seriously injured or disabled it's funny how support the troops goes out the window. With all the defense spending by the rwingers our VA hospitals should rival that of the Mayo Clinic or Johns Hopkins. It's a travesty that they're not.

8. Speaking as someone who is active duty
supporting the troops is interpreted as not putting us in harm's way unless there is no alternative. At least that's my take on it. I'm still trying to figure out how the current White House resident reasons its his oil underneath Iraq's sand!
