I'll Show You Mine, If you Show Me Yours: Post Your Tattoo(s)
Edited on Fri Mar-23-07 03:13 PM by JCMach1
I have gotten a little crazy (turning 40 in a few days)... so I decided to do something I wanted to do for a long time... get some tattoo work done.

Anyone else have tattoos to share?

7. I'll show you some of the designs I'm planning on getting.

A professionally-drawn version of this in between my pecs.

A reverse Celtic spiral on my right lower back.

Drawn versions of these on my back, because I'm a huge geek for extinct animals:

The last one's just going to be the eagle.

12. It looks worse that it was
all of that color was just smeared ink...no blood, no bruising.

Plus, it's a tiny tat, so what little pain there was didn't last very long!

13. I have two, but only a pic of one....
...and I'm on the verge of having it embellished as soon as I decide what I want (it's about 2" square and on the small of my back). It's the Chinese character (pictograph, actually) for "dragon," which I got because I was born in the year of the same.

21. Not a tat, but the best I can do
It's a weave from a sailing ship in the carribean years ago. Ankle is torn up a bit from skiing with that thing on.

22. Question for tattooees: How much would it hurt to get a tatt running up
my ribcage, off to the side.
I know what I want to get, I'm just having a hard time deciding where I want it to go, and a side/ribcage placement is my current inclination. I'm thinking it would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 6" long, and quite narrow.

My husband thinks I should get garters tattooed around my thighs.
:P

26. I figure it can't be *that* bad, right?
I mean, compared to unmedicated childbirths, and all.
Different kind of pain, I suppose.

31. Ribcage is
The most painful area (including the sternum in this), as per my brothers the tattoo artists (one of them has facial, head, neck, back, hell, just about everything tattooed, but he has yet to get the piece on his ribcage filled in 6 years later).

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that women do tolerate painful tattoos MUCH MUCH better than men do (also as per the bro's, and my experience from working in the shop for 2 years). The more relaxed you are going in, the better the whole experience will be. I have not had one tattoo go "numb" while it was being done, so don't hold your breath for that to happen. My limit is about 4 hours straight of tattooing, so I always take that into consideration when planning on my work.

I say go for it. A few minutes of pain is a fair trade-off for a lifetime of owning an awesome piece of art.
