Quietly get swallowed by a wave...
Summer song

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYcmUNvEHB4

for those of us who remember how Patrick Swayze got swallowed by a wave in Point Break...

and those of us who think that when the time comes, getting swallowed by a wave might not be the worst way to go...

(not now, just thinking)

4. But if it were a peaceful
end to a torturous situation

would it be the same? I mean that isn't going to be it for everyone.

I'm just saying if say, I found out today that I had very little time to live, I'd live as long as I could, then quietly get swallowed by a wave... be better than laying on a bed for days, weeks, months as gravity defeats you.

17. I used to dream over and over again about great big waves.

I rarely have those dreams any more.

But sometimes I have the "Exam dream."

2. Been pounded by a few
growing up in NC and spending time on the beaches of NC and SC body surfing and boogie boarding. Damn, I have been spin cycled.

3. But think about it...
if you had the choice of dying of a disease in horrendous pain, or some other situation where you had no control...

or, you could get wasted and swim out to sea into the waves.... and quietly get swallowed by a wave...

I'd rather have it happen that way, and I believe I will...

They beat the crap out of you and then jam you up on the shore with sand in every orifice.

6. I surf, like cwydo said you get pounded.
I've been slammed into the bottom, scrapped across the sand bottom, held down under water till my lungs ached. When a wave breaks on you it's like being punched in the head. Larger waves are worst, you die by blunt force or held underwater by turbulence until you drown.

7. Not for me
I can't really go into it...but a close relative chose suicide by drowning. I've had to live with all the freakiness left behind. I'll chose a painful death, just so my loved ones know I loved them, UNCONDITIONALLY.

Now, if you're talking euthanasia because of a terminal disease, and everything is agreed upon...that's different...

9. well yeah...
i'm talking euthanasia because of any terminal disease...

from what the surfers and the ocean goers said upthread, I'm rethinking as to whether getting swallowed by a wave would be the way, I just think of Patrick Swayze's character in Point Break and thought, he's going doing what he loved rather than face the consequences of his actions and sitting in a cell, maybe that was euthanasia for some? not what i'm really talking about though, you are closer to what i'm thinking.

how is everything ever agreed upon though?

16. What an incredible, beautiful and impressive feat.
Great audio too. I would love to watch some of that in person, from the shore.
