As soon as I use up my three cans of evaporated milk I'm becoming a vegan.
Just wanted to tell all y'all.

I used to feed my family healthy food, but they rebelled. Now the only person whose diet I am in charge of is my Staffordshire terrier, and she eats healthier than all of us.

I've been an off-and-on vegetarian for years, but I've finally had it. I cooked pork chops for my husband and sons and am filled with angst.

I donate money to PETA and use their return address labels.

So here's the deal. I am a vegan pit bull owner who donates to PETA. Can this thread go unnoticed like mine invariably do? Not even California Peggy talks to me unless I corner her!

1. why not just donate them to a soup kitchen
or something? I'm sure they can find use for them.

10. Good idea.
I only use it for my coffee, and Silk soy creamer is just as good, if not better.

2. Will the rest of your family go vegan with you?
Or do you still have to cook the pork chops?

Here's a hug, for what sounds like a rough night.

9. Not a chance in the world.
My husband does most of the cooking, but I'm going to just cook for myself when I get home from work. I have a feeling that my sons will be open to trying what I fix, although my older son has lots of allergies to fruits and vegetables and that will limit him somewhat.

6. No, I feed her Kirkland.
That might be something to explore, though. I found a link to a local company whose food is sold at the Holistic Pet Center quite close to our Costco.

15. Dogs are not vegetarians. They are usually meat eaters...
And only eat vegetation when they're constipated. I was not suggesting that you make your dog a vegetarian. That is not good for your dog.

21. Daizie is not much of an environmentalist, either.
In an effort to utilize the bare space in the grass I have tried putting plants alongside the racetrack she has made in our backyard, and they have all been reduced to twigs.

That's okay, a good romp is more fun than landscaping.

I am curious about vegetarian dog food, though. It seems to go very much against nature.

I'm not vegan, only a vegetarian (no matter how committed you are, someone will always trump you! :) ), but good for you. It always feels good to fully commit to your values, doesn't it?

7. Thank you!
I bought several of Lorna Sass's cookbooks and bought a pressure cooker last weekend. (Love it!)

It's time.

11. You'll have to post about how you like them.
I'm mostly a fly by the seat of my pants cook, I have a few cookbooks but don't really use them much.

Don't give up.. Be strong & Good for you!
I'm pseudo-veggie.. It's hard living with a meat-eater but maybe I'm just not trying enough. I'm getting better all the time, the more I know about factory farms the easier it is.

22. Oh, before I forget.
Since you're in Portland, in case you don't know it, you are in the best place on the planet to be vegan. There are tons of vegan friendly places to eat up there, and the activist community is great, and you've got lots of vegan shopping options.

You'll do great. :)

23. I'm way too much of a carnivore to do that...I ADORE meat.
Specifically turkey and pork, though not pork chops. Mmmmmmmm....

I admire your strength, however. Good luck!
