4. HBO is killing off all the good shows.

Carnivale, Deadwood and now Rome. But they keep bringing back the Sopranos which lost it three seasons ago. Showtime is going to own them soon.

8. HBO Is Getting Real Cheap

They're killing off their hour dramas, Sopranos, Deadwood, Rome, and this fall will be The Wire's last run. So, next year, they will only have half hour comedies and Big Love.

IMHO, they're taking a big risk because they cannot compete for the premium cable dollar with only movies. Heck, with DVDs, I can see any movie that HBO puts on and I can clearly pick better movies.

5. I don't think it was just HBO

They were in partnership with the BBC and it was only intended as a miniseries, but they were blown away by the quality, besides unless they were going to go forward in time and cover Nero's reign I don't know what more they could get out of it. I too am sad that it is going to be gone along with the Wire, but I would rather it go out at its best rather than a wimper like the Sopranos.

I only saw the first ever episode... liked it, and like historical stuff... just never had HBO in the interim.

10. So I Saw 300, No Spoilers

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I even liked the dialog and the story. It's based on a graphic novel, not the actual events. It's not trying to be a historical re-enactment.
