I picked it out during the great "name change" a while back. Of course, I was PWI at the time.

This reminds me of the times I have cut off my hair. You want a change, so you do it. I was just exploiting your post an excuse. Someone should spank me.

24. there has been a bit of rain today
i guess we had thunderstorms yesterday. i'm sad i missed it :( there are few things i love more than the smell of rain.

we did hit some turbulence coming into denver, but it didn't bother me much (thanks to my ativan and bloody mary, i'm such a bad flier).

i did hear that the mountains are getting snow, march and april are our wettest months (i expect we'll have more snow before the season is over).

i'm glad you got home safe

a bad flier eh?

ahhh, no sweat,

the worst flight I ever had was after watching the movie "twilight zone" and the scene with the gremlin or whatever destroying the engine outside the plane, i was on a flight that had about 10 people on it and it was dark...

i kept looking out the window at the engine :scared:

i'd just seen it recently

i'd have been a basketcase, besides it was a flight from OKC to Austin, they'd have gotten through the credits and the flight would have been over.

I have Sirius's Area 33 on in the background, so I'm groovin'.

I don't like getting visuals. Hopefully whatever I get will be minimal.

(I would hate acid/LSD; which is why I've never tried either one.)

34. Ooooops!
just take a little extra ativan, or drink a little extra

I remember getting off the plane in Amsterdam and it was morning but half the plane was smashed and walking on their ankles. The whole plane was like a big party as I recall. I bet it isn't like that anymore. We were running around the plane the whole flight "mingling" and it was a commercial flight, not a charter.

but didn't worry about those things getting the engine either...

35. sounds like my flight to vegas
a few years back (well, maybe not the mingling part), most of us were pretty canned by the time we hit the tarmac.

when i went to amsterdam, we were coming from london, so there wasn't enough time to get smashed on the plane. how long ago did you go to amsterdam? it's definitely on my list of places to go again.

37. ireland is next on my list
germany was fun, but i would have liked to spend more time exploring. the history in london was amazing and the pubs were awesome (i was there during world cup). and i am honestly surprised i remember as much of my trip to amsterdam as i do. last time i went, i was in class all day and the coffee shops most of the night. next time i go, i'm going to hit more of the museums and such.

i would also love to spend more time in brussels, i only had an afternoon last time i was there.

38. in ireland...
i think you need a bike... it's like every farmer's field has some archaeological point of interest. rocks, everywhere, made into fences, buildings, etc. that are pre-christianity coming to ireland. castles all over the place, (old ones, a single turret type) and roads that are so narrow that you'll breathe in everytime you pass someone going the other way LOL

39. that sounds fantastic
i am always amazed, almost overwhelmed, by the history i encounter over there. there is plenty of history here (in terms of the indigenous people), but not much of it remains. shit, the fort wasn't even established more than 150 or so years ago. there are rumors told that the vikings made it here, but i've not yet seen any proof.

41. there's a place not far from here...
called heavener runestone state park... there are runes etched deeply into a large stone. it isn't clear how old it really is. the theory that one camp holds is that vikings came up the mississippi river, up the arkansas, and then up other rivers... could be?

the other camp is that the owner of the land (or i guess homesteader) used runes to designate his land. how he knew runes is not explained, but i suppose he could have easily done that.

i like the viking story better myself

;)

i went to mesa verde many years ago. i was in awe of those cliff dwellings. i love the castles and history of europe, but nothing, to me, compares to those.

the dwellings are something else!

i also like the culture along the mississippi, the "plum bayou" culture, who were mistaken for toltec indians... they navigated and traded along the arkansas and mississippi rivers.

was amazing. there was a very large (city-sized) settlement near there, but i can't remember the name of it right now.

there was also a trade center in new mexico (i think) and you can still see the footpaths. edit: it was chaco canyon and it is in new mexico. i smell a long weekend in my future...

i'm going to have to dig out my textbooks now (i got a certificate in native studies in college, it does me no good but it was damn interesting).
