Radio Lady says, "Hello from Hawaii!" Do you want to talk to me?
Edited on Sun Mar-25-07 12:37 AM by Radio_Lady
I just have about five minutes... we're at the Hilton Hawaiian Village to see all of the new contruction going on.

Tomorrow we check into our timeshare. Had a great visit to Maui for twelve days. We didn't get to many of the places suggested... although we did have fun in Paia!

Talk soon...

Warm thoughts from Radio Lady in Honolulu!

Tony Roma's Rib House tonight?

I hope THAT won't get me into trouble!

We'll be COOKIN' OURSELVES tomorrow night... finally in our completely equipped timeshare.

both my French ??? onion soup (greasy and tasteless) and my Greek Salad (wilted lettuce and frozen cucumbers).

The manager took them off our check.

It would cost a fortune to transmit them from here. Look for them after April 1st... and thanks for remembering!

13. No new movies... we did see a couple of leftovers from former years.
"The Pursuit of Happyness" -- it's a B+

"North Country" with Charlize Theron -- another B+

All out in DVD this month or earlier.

23. FYI, we also bought the DVD of "Sisters" movie adapted from the Chekov play...
which was actually called "Three Sisters." Not a bad movie, if you like to see dysfunctional familes spout an endless stream of incalculably interesting and intricate dialogue, probably translated directly from the Russian language. The acting seemed quite adequate but a little stuffy.

I'm giving it a "C" -- for Certain Audiences only.

I found it very intriguing; however, the family interactions pale in the company of -- for example -- the recent goings-on with Anna Nicole Smith. Anton Chekov would be proud!

The hotel Alana, part of the Hilton Hotel chain, has a rooftop pool over the garage on the mezzanine level. Great if you wake up with a snoring husband!

Edited on Sun Mar-25-07 10:35 AM by Radio_Lady
Later this morning, we move over to the Lagoon Tower at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club. It's totally under repair this year as they build the new Grand Waikikian Tower, due in 2009.

You might enjoy visiting this web site: http://www.hgvc.com

Our kids and grandkids arrive at noon and this will end my fourteen days as a Princess, and start my enslavement of seven days as Granny Nanny!

Have a great week, Ptah... nice to hear from you.

Warm regards,

Radio_Lady

I love sunflowers so much.

Perhaps it is because of Vincent van Gogh's painting which I saw growing up...

27. Hey we stayed there in 1989 and that place was cool, watch out for the reef if
you go snorkeling, i got to close and my right above my knee got punctured, i call it my "Leisure wound". That was the hotel Jack Lord stood on in the opening credits of Hawaii 5-o.

29. I wear swim fins with a closed foot. We don't snorkel at Waikiki because of lack of fish...
A lot has changed since this was a sleepy little village in the 1940s and 1950s... remember Arthur Godfrey and Haleloki, the Hawaiian singer? Only the rich could travel here by ship. Passenger airplanes came a bit later.

My husband, as a child in Boston, viewed Hawaii as "kind of a dream -- unaccessible."

My view, as a child in south Florida, was, "Hawaii and Miami Beach are kind of twin sisters -- heat, ocean, palm trees, coconuts." Beautiful, but unattainable on the other side of the world!

39. Hello, Philosophie... I did see them shooting a Japanese TV commercial for???
Sorry, I didn't catch the product. After all, it was all in Japanese!

Thanks for the good wishes. It's so hot today I elected to go to the Business Center... airconditioned very well for me... and the equipment.

I'll be glad to get home. The heat is great as along as I'm in the pool or a wet bathing suit. Maybe we'll go to a movie tonight.

Appreciate your post, PER... you have no peer!

40. This place is beautiful. Regrettably, it is also completely under construction!
Hilton is revamping this property in MAJOR WAYS. Hard to be in a hard-hat area while vacationing. They are building the Grand Waikikian (a new timeshare tower) plus putting much work into a swimmable lagoon.

In any event, I'm not going to come back here until the project is done in 2009. There is noise in front and back from 8 AM to 6 PM every workday.

Alas and alack, I will now stop crying in my beer on this beautiful sunny cloudless day in paradise.

Jitterbug Perfume! What a great screen name!

41. Thanks, Debi. I can't complain, although I do, after these days of beautiful weather.
I'm still a cold weather fan, but it's fun to see the kids and grandkids enjoy the heat.

I keep the airconditioning on HIGH and think of snow-capped mountain peaks.

Best part of the way is swimming in the pool from 9 PM to 10 PM under the palm trees and the moon.

airconditioned. We haven't had pizza at all on this trip... seafood and local goodies. I discovered HAUPIA -- a coconut treat!

Paia was fun and I'm glad we went there.
