Poll question: How do you feel about your job?
It's Sunday afternoon, and millions of people are dreading going back to work tomorrow....or are they?

The boss isn't looking over your shoulder--now's the time to say what you really think!

3. There are things that could be better about my job
But I am challenged every day, learning a lot, and growing professionally. I would not say that I am making a lot of money, but I am making significanlty more than I ever did.
The things that I dislike about my job is that I am majorly stressed out about it all the time because in some ways it is too challenging, I am not surrounded by competent and motivated people, I work too much (50-55 hours per week),and the owner enjoys yelling at everyone, especially my superviser in front of me.
The business is expanding and I think that there is room for positive change at the company, provided that we don't mess it up by losing our major customers (Our biggest customers are other businesses). I have been there nine months. I plan on staying at least a couple more years, provided that I don't completely lose it. After that, I will be in a good position to find a better paying job at a more stable company if things don't seem to be heading in a positive direction.
I work in quality and research and development at a a food manufacturing company.

4. Could be better, could be worse.
Right now I've got one and I will work to it to the best of my ability until they find ways to make us redundant, assuming that happens. I refuse to guess about the hyperbole of the future anyway.

9. Unemployed and looking to be my own boss
I've been layed off twice since 1999. While I am very good at what I do (in fact, I'd say that the people I've worked for havent asked nearly for the excellence I know I have), I have had a very tough time staying employed.

Once upon a time you couldn't have talked me into working for myself, but after all I've seen the past seven years, I've changed my mind about that. I definitely want something that I can build up and no one can take away from me.

11. I'm blessed with a good job
I don't have enough work but what I do have is very well suited to me. I would like to have more but it looks like I'm going to have to start my own business to do that, which I'm planning. My job is just basically work, i.e. cleaning buildings, and it's just me. That is the best case scenario for me. I have to work in just a couple of hours. :hi:

13. I enjoy what I do for a living, but it doesn't pay what I'm worth.
:) Nobody ever goes into the profession I'm in to get rich, and I know that. My current job is much closer to paying what I'm worth, but there is still room to improve. I love my profession, and I love my job (even though at times like last week, I love to hate it!).

23. before this I was working for one of those
nothing makes me crazier. I literally could do nothing without her approval. I had to sit in a chair and wait for her tell me what to do, because if I took iniative she got pissed off. Once I organized some miscellaneous vacuum cleaner bags (about 30 different kinds) that were in the back warehouse just laying around and had been for a year...I organized them and labeled them by type, just to have something to do. She came back into the back the next day, took the boxes I had put them in and turned them upside down and dumped them out on the shelf. I couldn't believe it. And worse, she told the field managers that I was 'lazy'. So I would have to sit in a chair and wait for her to give me 'permission' to work, and they would come in and see me sitting there and make remarks about how I could help them if I had nothing to do. It was insane, and I don't know how I stood it as long as I did.

21. I used to love it.
But the company I work for has been taken over by a huge conglomerate, & I don't like the new corporate ethos. I went part-time on a job-sharing basis a few years ago, & ever since, my annual reviews have gotten worse & worse. I know they're trying to push me out so they can hire a 22-year-old who will work the graveyard shift for less money than they pay me to work 3 days/week.

One of these days I'm just going to quit, but that day hasn't come yet.

25. It's okay.
It's not the job that "makes the living" - my husband's job does that. My job only earns enough to be considered extra money or pin money. I work in the daycare of my gym, and one big perk is that my membership is free and my husband's was pretty well discounted. It's a nice job for what it is.

27. Besides the whining and no time off...
It's pretty sweet. This is my last year being able to stay home to care for kids. All will be in school full-time next year (I think). So I guess soon time for me to get a paying job. I'm trying to enjoy it while it lasts.
