Flat as a board and easy to nail
Unfortunately that does NOT describe my walls which are textured and seem to be treated with solid steel.
I've got a beautiful picture here to hang up but I can find no stud and the wall laughs at my nails

1. Pirate's dream - sunken chest.
You could try using those odd hangers that attach with a putty-like substance. No holes required. I've used them in my kitchen where I want to cover the walls with stuff but not damage the tiles.
