Bookstore Update

Here's an update on the bookstore space:

We stopped by last night to take a peek inside. The walls are painted and the new floor has been installed! Yay!

If all goes as planned, in 5 days the keys will be in my hands!!!

Hey - don't forget the homeschoolers. I don't know how active they are in Milwaukee - but I'm sure there're some. Hs'ers are always looking for used textbooks/curriculum, and other "educational-type" materials. I'll be happy to post an ANNOUNCEMENT when you're ready to hs groups in WI.

28. What kind of lighting and shelves are you going with?

These can make a huge difference in the amount of time I will spend in a bookstore. I guess I would say they are the two main factors that differentiate between browsing and shopping. I spend more time in a place when I am comfortable and willing to kill a few hours while I look around.

There is a new floor now. i will be using the 100 matching bookshelves I got with the books. No pine planks or 2x4's. There will also be a carpeted area with sofas and chairs, end tables, lamps, and ottomans. Browse, read, chill out, hang out. It will be a very comfy place to be.

The lighting is currently inadequate. I'm working with the owner to upgrade it from flourescents to some nice incandescents. Any ideas on your end?

30. Incandescents for sure.

Fluorescents make me want to rip my eyeballs out (I lived in a house with only fluorescents, OMFG). I would offer free WiFi too. And maybe a computer so people could look for reviews on Amazon.com and such.

39. If you need help setting up a computer that only displays Firefox or IE...

Just ask. Getting one that is only able to display certain web-pages is a snap. That way you don't have to worry about kids spending all day looking at MySpace on your computer.
