I have the urge to watch a regional horror movie made in the Southwest
in the 70s. Not The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - something less well-known. Anyone help a brother out?

2. What about "Carnival of Souls?" Made in Kansas,
Edited on Mon Mar-26-07 07:18 PM by fifthgendem
and it's pretty good for a low-budget 60s horror flick. Actually, it's one of my favorites. No blood, but it's still pretty creepy.

It's a Criterion Collection release.

6. Many put it
on the top 20 lists of horror movies.

It was filmed in Kansas and Utah.

It's one of my favorite movies.

3. If you are a fan of MST3K try Werewolf
a/k/a Arizona Werewolf. It stars Richard Lynch and Joe Estavez (brother of Martin Sheen) It is wonderfully awful

5. Now that'a a late night, nothing on,
throw some popcorn in a bowl and a cheap glass of red wine viewing.

Best if there's a nasty winter storm 'cuz it sucks so bad you need to be stuck inside to make yourself watch it.

12. A bit over an hour east of KC.
I just hate most KC sports as a general rule.

14. Gargoyles, Night of the Lepus, the Car
Now some of these stray into sci fi territory, but they're all arguably horror.
Gargoyles is an old Movie of the Week featuring those creatures attempt to reclaim the surface. Very nice, with Ronny Cox as the sheriff.
Night of the Lepus has the west overrun with giant Rabbits. Featuring DeForest Kelly.
The Car ,also with Ronnie Cox, is a renegade Lincoln with terminator vision hunting pedestrians.
