any recommendations for anything between $250-400, should I bother buying an extended warranty or protection plan?

1. What size are you looking for?
I bought a 19" widescreen for a computer I built for a friend and he loved it $185 from newegg.com

2. Get a widescreen. I love mine!

This is the one I own and it only cost $179 (Hanns G HW191D) :

Make sure you have a video card that's capable of supporting widescreen resolutions.

5. Cool!
I just bought it to replace an aging 19" CRT that was really starting to strain my eyes. Worth every penny!

7. Built in speakers.
My Princeton has them and it keeps the desk clutter down.

8. Lots of cuvature, and something with at least a foot of stuff behind it
Without a cubic foot or two of power stuff behind it, it just isn't worth it.
