prolesunited & I are now OFFICIALLY "Crazy Dog People". (pic)
Edited on Tue Mar-27-07 04:49 PM by Blue-Jay
We just bought a bicycle trailer for our fat schnauzer, Bella.

I took her on a short tour of the neighborhood. She whined a little bit and barked at some kids, but otherwise seemed to enjoy her role as baggage.

1. And the problem with that is ....?
Well, OK, if Bella truly is fat, she should be running beside the bike, not being hauled behind it. But that in no way makes you crazy dog people.

3. A leash plus a bike is a recipe for disaster.
Plus, she's not *that* fat.

I can't wait to take her with us for Bike The Drive on Memorial Day weekend.

What does she think of it? :bounce:

15. She's a little freaked out right now.
I'm sure she'll get used to it quickly. Hell, when we adopted her, she didn't even know how to play.

18. Once she's used to it,
you'll probably have to sneak out of the house to ride without her. You know how dogs are ... "if you want to do it, so do I!"

33. We saw those at the dog show
but I don't think she could keep up. She has such little legs. Those are great for a larger dog, but I think it still could be problematic with other people on the bike paths or if your dog wasn't well trained.

10. One of these days, I'm gonna get a giant schnauzer.
The best of both worlds. No shedding, and big enough to wrestle with.

Bella doesn't "wrestle". She's a snuggler who gets her feelings hurt if you look at her cross-eyed.

With a few simple modifications.

I can't believe how happy I am about Bella's new ride. Maybe I'll get out on my bike more often.

Only 80 bucks!

Plus, the drag isn't as bad as you'd imagine. I was a little surprised at how easy it was to tow her around.

28. Yeah, I love the soft coat.
Only prob is that it gets tangled so easy.

Do you find it difficult to trim Bella's nails? I have a REALLY hard time with Lucinda...

And while I've got another schnauzer person to ask: Does Bella freak out, shiver, and shake during thunderstorms, or is that just another one of Lucinda's crazy things?

Thanks for the compliment--I'll pass it on to LuLu. Your Bella is a beautie. :)

31. OK....
I'm ashamed to admit it, but I don't usually trim Bella's nails. Her groomer trims them. I've done it a few times, but I wouldn't say that she's "difficult". She likes to fake-bite me after three or four nails, however.

Also, she doesn't give a crap about storms. She only responds to love and/or scolding. She's a good girl, so she rarely needs to deal with the latter.

32. That makes sense...
I groom Lucinda myself...She's great through the whole thing, but she hates having the pads of her feet tampered with.

But oh lord does she hate the storms. She jumps into my lap and shakes and shivers.

Thanks for the answers...I guess these are just LuLu's peculiarities.

34. Welcome to crazyworld.
Okay, okay, we have one of those, too.

It's pretty funny. We leave him mostly zipped up when it rains (fairly often) and people like to peek in to see the "baby." He's a very cute dog, but he makes a really ugly baby.

Enjoy, and take the corners carefully!
