Vote for Sanjaya Tonight!!!
http://www.votefortheworst.com/

Have you heard about this "Vote for the Worst" movement. If its even a movement. It seems way more fun than "pay it forward" from a few years back. I heard about this on Howard Stern last week and voted for the first time. I've yet to see the show or hear any of them sing, but I am gonna "Vote for the Worst!" I think its pretty silly, but it makes me laugh, so bring it on.

1. I wish people would stop doing this. He is a 17 year old kid who really cannot sing and
all this is doing in the long run is turning him into a laughingstock. Very unkind and uncool in my book.

2. Why do you hate America?
:hide:

Sanjaya is probably raking in big media deals and will take the money and run. When it comes to money, people will drop their self-conscious nature quite rapidly. If people will do anything for the $5000 (or whatever) the Jerry Springer people gives them, they'll do anything.

It's just business.

:(

3. Maybe. I know that a few weeks ago he was looking stunned that he was
stll around. Now, he is starting to get cocky like he thinks he really deserves it. I still say this won't be good for him in the end.

8. Now knowing that, I am compelled to agree.
Better to end the misery sooner than later...

Still, I suppose it is possible the fans have all conspired together to show Simon and the gang how lame the show really is... (not really, but maybe I'm wrong in my previous assertion...)

9. No, the story behind it is actually fairish. See, for the auditions they run people
through by the tens of thousands like cattle in an abattoir. Who they say yes to is almost random and they choose people who stand out but not always for their singing ability. So the good singers who got cut kinda wanted to sink the show for that reason, or so I heard.

But as I say, in the end it is cruel to the person the are promoting.

27. If he wasn't getting paid an obscene amount of money
for being a talentless hack, I would probably feel a little sorry for him. He should be calling the votefortheworst people and thanking them all day long. They go him onto the tour which will pull him in even more money.

29. American Idol is nothing more than an over-hyped Karoake show
Hell, I'd give more credit to MTv's making the band because at least Diddy had the girls write lyrics for their songs.

I have never voted for American Idol but I'm jumping on board with this one.

5. Are They Inviting The Crying Girl Back?
I wouldn't waste 5 minutes of my free time watching this show, but I saw the piece on Countdown last week, since Keith seems somehow interested enough to make it a regular story.

This girl ends up being a big reason he won last week, and then she gets to go on all the news and entertainment shows to explain why she is such a MORON, and how Sanjay is "like totally the greatest thing ever in music history."

16. Yesterday on the View, there was a woman who claimed to
be Howard Stern's fiancee (?) stating that the whole vote for Sanjaya thing was his idea.

I wouldn't put it past him, but I do think it is really mean.

And we wonder where kids get the idea to be mean to each other? At the high school, some kids put this really unattractive, goofy kid up for homecoming prince, as a joke.

Not funny.

21. but there are REALLY talented kids on that show
Kids who deserve the acclaim and avenue to success. Blake is really talented, for example, and has wide appeal. It will be a shame if the contest is rigged by the public.

25. That's the nature of the contest...
Edited on Wed Mar-28-07 02:29 PM by WeRQ4U
It is SUPPOSED to be rigged by the public. If they were truly interested in finding the most talented people in America, then they wouldn't do it in this manner. I'm not entirely convinced that the powers that be at American Idol Inc. don't love the idea too. It's in their best interests for the show to be a shitstorm. People like to watch that crap.

It's a farce. Why not make it even more farcical? And I wouldn't be worried about whether or not a talented being from the show is going to get the shaft because it really doesn't matter if one wins. If they've made an impression, they'll get a look from someone, sooner or later. For Pete's sake, I saw that Pickler girl from last year on the Country Station the other day...and she's flippin' terrible.

26. The contest IS the public.
Isn't it shitty that they took Sanjaya to Hollywood in the first place? I mean, he sucks. They left someone behind who was talented to bring him for some teenybopper fanclub. They set themselves up for this.

I laughed pretty hard when I learned this morning Sanjaya is still in the show. The newspaper mentioned Howard Stern and the vote for the worst website. This is funny.

that was my biggest objection to this whole vote Sanjaya thing before: that he was being used and was unhappy. I have mixed feelings about it. There are some very talented singers on the show and I do enjoy their performances, but I have to admit there is something deliciously subversive about people not doing what they are supposed to do and resisting the evil marketing machine that is American Idol.
