Do some Orange County communities have better dirt than others?
I am perusing the Craigslist ads, and I see a couple of different ads for free dirt. One of them has free Costa Mesa dirt, and the other has free Fountain Valley dirt.

If I were looking for free dirt, which one would I choose?

I am so confused.

6. Soil quality all around here is for shit
This whole regions soil is very high in clay content with some sandy desert mixed in just to be difficult.

Orange county dirt is orange county dirt. One has to buy premixed soils in order to plant here.

2. Look for the dirt they want you to pay for
That's got to be the best dirt.

8. Costa Mesa dirt is better because
Fountain Valley dirt has that awful Valley accent.

9. My dear KW!
I think I agree with the other posters.....

Price is a factor, since I believe you generally get what you pay for...

Not always, of course!

As far as Costa Mesa vs. Fountain Valley.....Your guess is as good as mine! I have no idea...

I'd think you'd want to avoid any dirt with a lot of clay content...

11. Are they both black dirt?
If there's one black and the other reddish brown I'd take the black dirt anyday. I remember being in Oklahoma one time and having never seen red dirt before. It was very unsettling.

12. I am guessing no!
I don't think people here would know what black dirt was if a whole dumptruck load of black dirt fell on them.

I miss the soil of Minnesota.

13. I think it might have been Minnesota where I saw "Dirt World"
Or maybe it was South Dakota. Anyway, it cracked me up. In my travels last summer, I also encountered "Biscuit World" in West Virginia and "Truck World" in, I believe, Montana.

No imagination when it comes to names sometimes.
