And the color represents the pressure and fittings of the hydrant so that the fire dept can tell at a glance the water power they're going to have? Did everyone already know this except me?
FIRE HYDRANT COLOR CODES
BLUE AA 1500 AND UP
GREEN A 1000 -- 1499
YELLOW B 500 -- 999
RED C LESS THAN 500
WHITE DEAD NO FLOW

3. I had recently noticed that the hydrants in my neighborhood were all painted yellow |
|
and my daughter asked me why they weren't red. I told her that the yellow didn't show the pee, lol. But I was curious so I did later google it to find out.

2. Not me, and I've had loads of fire-related training. |

Of course, as a general rule, we didn't have a lot of "hydrants" onboard the ships. Thanks for the info (though it's slightly confusing, I think the insertion of some LFs or '-------'s might help)

but I used to be a police, fire and EMS dispatcher. We had a map in dispatch of each town we dispatched for. On each street there was a hydrant we had a push pin and they were all color coded.
