Haruka gets prettier all the time. I know she's going to end up cutting it short for the summer, but her hair looks so beautiful.

123. She Grew up picking Cotton in rural Western Tennessee

At 17 (1924) she married my Maternal Grandfather, they moved to Gary, Indiana which had filthy air and he worked in the Steel Mills and she had three children, she smoked until she was 75. My maternal Grandfather ran booze for Capone, and was a Bookie. He had a horrible gambling problem -there was constant stress. She worked at a Holiday Inn for years, first as a maid, later as a Waitress - she got stock and a pension that still pays her - as a waitress - at Holiday Inn - you know, back when we valued labor. Anyway, my Maternal Grandfather died in 1966. In 1970, she married my Paternal Grandfather - so my Mom and Dad were step siblings....which made my brothers my cousins. Anyway, my Paternal Grandfather died in 1986.

The genes in both sides of my family are pretty good. Basically, if you don't drink yourself to death, die in combat or get in a fatal Car wreck, you will probably make it into your eighties. Her siblings, even the skid row alcoholic, made it into their eighties. My Dad's uncle weighed over 400 pounds at about 5'9" - he died at 81, but he was down to about 350. I try to drive carefully......
