Ok, my friend hates me because I believe in freedom of speech.

Long story short. She said something about some war protesters burning and desecrating the flag. I support a person's right to do these things; however, I personally would not. Now I am a horrible person because "she can't believe she knows someone who would support this kind of thing."

I'm one step away from telling her to take a flying fuck.

Ask her what she thinks about people who wear pictures of the flag as underwear or flag bikinis or something. Personally, I think that comes pretty close to desecration.

just because you think something shouldn't be banned doesn't automatically mean you support it. RWers make this leap of logic all the time. To live in a free society it means having to put up with things you disagree with. It wouldn't be free speech if we all agreed with it. There are certain groups in this country that I think are deplorable fucks but I support their right to exist and say what they want but because of that it doesn't make me a member of the KKK or Focus on the Family
